Still not sure about the Taylor deal. I don't know much about him, but he doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade on Amavi. I get that we need options with Cissoko gone, but can't see Taylor will come in to be second choice despite playing in a defence that ships goals for fun and dropping Amavi seems harsh. Everything else in the window makes clear sense so I assume there is a reason for it.

I reckon someone from abroad. We've had wind of all the transfers from British clubs, but Bjarnason came out of nowhere. I'm guessing the usual press don't have the same level of contacts outside the country and we're generally pretty good at keeping things quiet.

Exciting as it is, I'm not sure we want many more in (though probably a couple out). Unbelievably we're looking light up front with McGate, RHM, Kozak all unselectable and Gabby still shite, so one more there. The young left back as one for the future and back up for Amavi is OK too. But other than that I think we should shut up shop and get the new squad gelling. I get the feeling Tony's a bit over-excited about buying new players and trying to integrate any more players is going to make things tougher over the next few weeks.

I'm pretty sure the first part is Rhodes for Jack + £ is 75% done, with 2 other striker options still at 50%. Agree with the rest. Not happy with that TBH.

Rhodes for Grealish would really piss on my transfer window chips. Please don't do it. I've seen FFP as being an issue, but surely we can wait till the end of the season, see where we are then and THEN make the call to cash in on assets if we need to.

When you are getting a player on the cheap (or a free) at the end of their contract, it seems that the agents ask for some of the 'saving' to be added to the wages. eg Player value £5m, bought for £1m - leave £4m 'saved' spread over a 3yr contract = £25k a week. The players value should still be around £5m if sold so that money can be recouped. Theoretically.
