  1. Let's hope it's not a Green heading opportunity then.
  2. Why though? It's the last position we need to strengthen. Albert provided most assists last season, then add Elmo, now Snodgrass? Doesn't make sense to me.
  3. No - still keep hold. His value is very likely to go up, especially if he gets game time and gets a new contract tied down. He could be worth a fortune in the next year or two. And more importantly, we'd be left with Taylor on the left and about 85 players on the right.
  4. Blimey - just watching the highlights and it appears that we a ) did something from corners, b ) scored from a throw-in and c ) have midfielders arriving late into the box to score. Who are you and what have you done with the Aston Villa team?
  5. Yeah - agree with Czechlad's side to start. We really need to play exactly the same way - forget about it being away. Attack and pressure them, stay on the front foot and get rid of the away / on TV hoodoo.
  6. Ah yeah. That could well be it. Still don't think we need another RW as our final addition so it's a meh from me.
  7. 'Hopefully it'll be right decision' - Possibly reading too much into it, but hardly seems like a ringing endorsement. Usually Dr X is much more positive. Seems, like me, to be a bit meh about Snodgrass (if it's him).
  8. TBH that probably makes it more legit!
  9. It would be fantastic if Ross can get rehabilitated and scoring / assisting again. On form he would really add to our options. My innate optimism is hoping the Norwich result and performance of O'Hare, Green and Davis is giving a kick up the arse to some of the more senior players who now have to prove they are better which can only be good for the club.
  10. As long as he continues at 3 points per game, I'll be happy.
  11. Cardiff and Ipswich will lose plenty of times this season. Table won't shake itself out for a while yet.
  12. A real step in the right direction, but needs to be built on now. I'd like to see O'hare left out of the juniors and at least on the bench for friday. Once again I hope that is Gabby dropped further down the pecking order - he can play in the whatever-it's-called Cup - keep Davis for Friday. Give Bree or De Laet a run in place of Hutton and we're looking pretty strong. Who knows - we might even be 'ready' to play 2 strikers? Finally - I really hope Steve focuses on the 20 shots and 4 goals rather than the 2 conceded. That's the way to win this league. It may be a bit 'Keegan', but the midfield has to be free to get that 2-3m closer to the box to create a threat and if that means less protection at the back at the risk of a few more against it's still as risk worth taking IMO.
  13. And maybe, instead of watching the cricket, he should be, I don't know, say - working out how to beat Norwich and get us up from the foot of the table.
  14. Lovely, impassioned post. But do you really want to hear the Mellberg out chants in 10 months time? I'd give him a bit longer to get experience and for villa to sort itself out.
  15. It SLAMS shut @ 23:00 on Aug 31st.
  16. Can we please have one of the kids instead of Gabby. Thanks.
  17. Yep. But I suppose it gives them another week to approach the next fella, working on the assumption that Bruce > no-one / caretaker. Not sure many will agree with that, though on current evidence I wouldn't want Calderwood to step in even for a week. Our recent caretakers have been worse than the sacked manager they replace.

  19. Well - Bruce is certainly hampering Villa's available strength, so out he must go.
  20. What's Thomas Tuchel up to these days? Maybe he fancies a sleeping giant challenge and wadful of cash.
  21. Seems legit - I just put a fiver on Reading to dull the pain so a win is almost assured.
  22. With all the Bruce out chat, we seem to have missed that our possession over the last 3 games has been 51% v Hull, 59% v Colchester and 65% v Cardiff. We're winning the possession! WINNING!
