  1. I agree about the new manager bounce myth, but in this case we have a side that (in most people's view) are underachieving somewhere between slightly and severely. For all the defence being crap, the mere presence of Terry will give them an extra 20%. For the attack - we have the potential... I don't think we need a big shift to get an immediate effect. Plus there are a lot of players with entry to prove to the new boss. It may be a while till we the the full effect, but I can easily see an immediate impact from the new team.
  2. Was mostly tongue in cheek really. But I like to hope... Doesn't mean I'll be booing if we don't make it. I do think our squad is up there in the league. Sure there are issues in defence, but every side has weaknesses and with proper coaching and tactics we can work around them. I think we'll be competing by season end.
  3. Yes - he'll get time from me. As long as we're top 2 by Christmas.
  4. I think this'll be good. Happy that JT is part of this - he had such a huge impact last season and I think will have the humility to want to learn from Dean. Hoping that JT will also give the quick uplift before Dean's plans kick in. Fixtures coming up may be harder than we've failed at so far, but we shouldn't fear anyone and I hope we don't from here on. Top 2 by Xmas please.
  5. Thats what I was thinking, but Jack out wide is such a waste. Could be 4 4 1 1 possibly.
  6. Faria does deem to have come from nowhere. Who was that Fergie no 2 who was a bit crap... Querioz?
  7. Me too. I'd invite Mick and Sam to come with me as well.
  8. Moyes still has almost a year to go on his Man Utd contract!
  9. ...and right on schedule, Dwight chucks his CV in.
  10. And when Sherwood left. Can't see him doing anything different from Bruce.
  11. Cameras are going to be scanning every face in the crowd!
  12. From last time he was in charge I don't think K Mac has the balls to do anything other than play the last team. Bree in for Chester but otherwise more of the same.
  13. Our defence isn't great and there is a worrying lack of specialist depth, even if we have a lot of utility defenders. But I don't think it's that bad for the championship - all teams have weaknesses down here. Perhaps playing the same players in the same positions might help. Perhaps setting up as a team where everyone knows their role and defending from the front as one. Pretty sure that many managers could make us look better at the back as well as unleashing the talent we have up front.
  14. Dream team with Dwight... Let's get it done.
  15. I know it's ridiculously unlikely but a Wenger/Henry team as DoF/Head Coach would give me a warm feeling in my pants.
  16. I still shudder at the post-Sherwood line up he selected. Really hope this is a one off.
  17. I think that binning the whole coaching set-up there must be someone already done with coaches available. I hope!
  18. And we're done. Thanks for last season Steve, enjoyed most of that. Should have gone then, but onwards and (hopefully) upwards!
  19. I heard they banned the throwing of vegetables at football matches years ago. It was called Cole's Law I think.
  20. Just one thing re the 4 right backs. For the whole season, Bruce has been castigated for playing Axel (nominally a CB) out of position at RB. You can't then give him grief for playing '4 RBs' when Axel is one of them. I know it doesn't fit the 'Bruce doesn't know what he's doing' narrative', but it's unnecessary. There's more than enough real crap to have a go about.
  21. So Steve, tell me about those wingers you bought in?
