  1. Would be very happy with a point. Keep defence tight, but we have to have an outlet and keep the ball for a bit. Backs to the wall, 20% possession will kill us in the end.
  2. Back to back losses either side of an international break would be a long old stint of crap, so please can we win.
  3. Talks about himself in the third person. We don't like that.
  4. I think mine first went about 7ish. As others have said the noise can be a bit scary, esp if they're not expecting it. Take plenty of snacks, something for if they get bored (phone, whatever) and keep them warm. You don't have the same engagement with the match when you're keeping an eye on them as well, but the look on their faces entering the stadium, seeing a goal, singing the chants etc is priceless.
  5. That would be a pretty good season, I agree. And as I said, is a majority of losses. But hopefully not this week.
  6. To be fair, it is very likely that the majority of our games will be losses. I agree this should be one of the more winnable, but Palace and Newcastle showed that this league is very unpredictable.
  7. Jordan. Anyway - need to do a job on Zaha and hope his head is gone with transfer thoughts. Solid chance for 3 points and make it a strong August, though a point would be OK. Bit gutted I couldn't get tickets as it's only 5 mins from me.
  8. Exactly this. Was surprised that Jack came as I thought he was on the bench in case it was going tits up like it has in the past, but that could be a masterstroke in building his confidence.
  9. Steer, Guilbert, Konsa, Engels, Targett, Dougie, Hourihane, Lansbury, Jota, Wesley, Trez. Jack, SJM, AEG on the bench in case of disaster. Mings completely rested. Gives new boys more match time. Wesley a chance to build confidence. See what Targett & Trez can do, and on the other side Guilbert/Jota gets another run out together. No-one has played too much and they are all young, so should have plenty in the tank.
  10. What I love more than anything is the praise being spread across pretty much the whole team. Everyone played a part, everyone contributed. No solo outstanding performance this time - it's teamwork. That's how we will progress.
  11. Good to see tough games for a few below us - particularly Palace and Newcastle. This result should really see us stick a few places up by the end of the weekend. Palace will be under pressure when we play them.
  12. That's a surprise - Guilbert in from nowhere. Think it's a good move to start with jota and bring on El Ghazi for (hopefully) impact. Positive.
  13. I'd take a 0-0 and last up on MOTD now. Keep it tight, cut out mistakes and don't give away free kicks in the Sigurdson zone.
  14. From Dean's recent comments, Marvelous is not fit enough yet and he's pleased with Elmo and Taylor so I'm pretty sure they will keep their places for now. I'd say most chance for Jota to come in with EG as an impact sub which I think makes more sense than the other way round, but more likely it'll be the same team IMO.
  15. Despite our start there are already 3 teams worse than us this season!
  16. Cut out the individual mistakes, have a bit more luck with deflections and referees and get a bit more clinical with our shooting. We're not far away - xG had us ahead for today and over the course of a season we'll get points out of games like this. Keep the faith
  17. Rugby on the telly, cricket on the radio and match thread for the Villa. Who says men can't mulittask?
  18. Would love a win, but would be OK with getting a point. Ideally a clean sheet and probably a cagey game - 1-0, Wesley to open his account.
  19. This is it for me. Tiredness physically and mentally meant that every decision took a split second longer and we were caught on the ball or the pass intercepted. Then more chasing, get more tired, rinse and repeat. You could see it building through the second half with the inevitable result. Everyone will have learnt from that and in some ways in the long term it could be better to have that up front than a softer start. Don't think anyone will be complacent about the challenge this season now, if they ever were.
  20. Mind you, only have to keep it to a 2 goal deficit and we stay out of the bottom 3!
  21. Wow. That's a surprise line up. Guilbert fit and not even on the bench. Hope draining by the second.
  22. Still looks like a toilet from above though.
