  1. So if Derby can win on Wednesday and there’s no shocks this evening. Next Sunday could be one of the most boring last days of the league in championship history.
  2. Doesn’t matter who finishes 6th because we’ll beat anyone! Who you calling a scamp??
  3. Bristol are going to blow it. What a suprise...
  4. I think he’s a breath of fresh air after the last manager. Many on here cried out for a young modern forward thinking manager and to be honest I used to wonder what that would even look like. Once the club recruited Smith I didn’t think we would see what his approach would bring until next season. Smith is starting to show us the value of a top manager earlier than we could have hoped.
  5. As you won’t be replying again I could pretty much say anything in this post. Then again maybe that comment only refers to the other thread and not this one. Anyway as you seem a little irritated and it’s the Dean Smith thread I will just say I think he is doing a sterling job just like all the tabloids said he would. UTV
  6. From what I’ve seen of Axel since he has returned I think our best centre half pairing could be Mings and Axel. I love the way they are both able to bring the ball forward plus there will be a good balance of right sided and left sided defender. Chester and Hause are as good as it gets for back up in this league.
  7. Not to mention having 20k fans on your back for every mistake. His confidence must have hit rock bottom. I do wonder if the club knew about Chesters knee problems last summer or whether he got injured during the season. It has to be the latter right?
  8. Mate you said yourself you remember names of our managers from over 50 years ago. I didn’t even have to try,
  9. Tony Xia wasn’t injecting his own funds. He was using parachute payments and loans against the parachute payments. Guy was a pure fraud! Edit: I agree with the rest of your post.
  10. We all know FFP was bought in to prevent another Man City or Chelsea. Many deem what they did to now be the clubs they are they are as unfair so now we have this ruling to prevent it happening again. Protecting clubs is nothing to do with it imo. The clues in the ‘fair play’ part of the title.
  11. My favourite time ever as a Villa fan.
  12. Apart from our successful managers 100 years ago. Never forget them
  13. Little had great success with 532 when the norm was 442 if I remember correctly. That was quite innovative.
  14. I’d be suprised if he plays again this season.
  15. He is an incredibly intelligent player. 9 times out of 10 he will just do the simple things but is always aware of what’s around him so knows when it’s time to play the killer pass or spread it wide. He has a great knack of creating space for himself and ridiculously comfortable on the ball. He really is a pleasure to watch at this level. Would love to see him continue playing this way in the premier league captaining the club he loves.
  16. As mentioned in my edit it’s not the way to do things. Totally ignoring FFP rules thinking that it will only be a 9 point deduction is basis enough to increase it in my opinion.
  17. I doubt the punishments will be capped to 9 points if there becomes a complete disregard of the rules. edit: falling foul of the EFL is not the way to do things. We need to work with them which it seems Purslow is doing.
  18. It was a massive gamble at the time. Panic signing almost. Unfortunately it didn’t pay off. Time for him and the club to move on.
  19. I don’t think he would need to force it. He has done superbly in this league but we all know Premier league is on another level. Bournemouth have now become a regular Premier League club that for whatever reason seem to deem him surplus to requirements. If the price is right I doubt they will stand in his way.
  20. I do wonder why it took an injury for Elmo to get back in the team. Such a better Right Back then Hutton and it’s not like we were winning games. Edit: maybe it was more a confidence thing. He is one of those players that fans are quick to turn on when things aren’t going well.
  21. I reckon if it wasn’t for FFP we would have been able to convince Jack for stay for one more season if we didn’t go up. Unfortunately I’d think we’d have too much of a rebuild to do to challenge for top 2 next season and Jack would provide the money to do it.
  22. I think we can if we sell Grealish and reinvest the funds.
