I heard they have made big losses and need to sell players. @Demitri_C was right about them having potential FFP problems and may not be in a position to turn down 20 million.

If we had signed Seri from Marseille for 27 million I guarantee a lot of fans would be over the moon. If we signed Philips for 20 million many of the same fans would be over the moon. I don’t get that at all.

There are. Fulham tried the alternative to young and British with a couple of highly rated midfields from the French league for 50 odd million for the pair. No idea how well they did though.

I’m not disputing whether they are good players or not. But its proof that it can take young players from abroad time to settle so there is always a risk in signing this type of player too. Look im not saying we shouldn’t look for value abroad and I also agree that 20-30m million is a ridiculous sum for a Championship player with 2 good seasons. I just think we finally have the right owners and setup at the club for the first time in years so I’d like to believe we can trust them. If they think Webster is worth paying over the odds for them then I’m happy with it.
