Yeh the first game of the season. We didn’t actually look that bad for the first few games. It fell apart against and then after Watford.

I think it makes sense to pay a little extra for British based players.

Spot on. This season is all about staying up so if developing other teams youngsters helps us do that I have no problem with it.

It’s not just about learning a system it’s about having players that knows each other’s game and feel settled. This can sometimes take time. Even more so if the players aren’t used to the league. However as you say hopefully we are in for signings that will be able to hit the ground running.

A settled back four is ideal and can take a bit of time to gel. As you say would be ideal to get a few friendlies in if possible.

You forgot what happened in late December/January already mate? i personally think every point next season could be season defining.

If we have to do all our business late on then so be it but we have to accept it will take longer for the team to settle and learn to play Dean Smiths way. Looking at our August fixtures we are playing against very settled teams.

I’m shitting if mate and fearing a season like the one we got relegated right now. A run of defeats at Villa Park and we’ve all seen what happens to the atmosphere. I don’t want to panic but I can’t help it. I think the quality of the league is a lot of higher now than it was the year we went down.

I feel I have to respond to this. The year Chelsea last won the league Cahill made 34 starts in the league. Terry started 3 games and Ivanovic left the club. So how on earth was he exposed without them?
