I agree mate. I don’t care if we make our signing at 23:59 on 8th August. The main thing is we make the rights signings and have a squad that can keep up. Hopefully no need for doom and gloom on the 9th.

I’ve posted pretty much the same thing somewhere else. Only reason Axel replaced him was because he got injured. There’s not much between them but as Axel is right footed it gave us a better balance.

Delph was actually the same when he left the for 5 million. I think they were in league one though.

Club got him to sign it in January with the ridiculously low buy out clause in it as if a another club wouldn’t take advantage of it. Was a pure PR stunt. Looking back I bet Delph wish he never signed it and just left on a free.

I don’t think our valuation of him will change. If they want more than we are offering then they will hold on to him until the last day and even then maybe just keep him as a squad player.

I think for us mere mortals it’s sometimes easy to forget how much must be involved in a transfer. We’re talking multi million pound deals. Can you think of any other business where such transactions of these sums would be wrapped up in days. I guess it’s inevitable they will go down to the wire.

I see where you’re coming from but even Jedinak came in for a couple of games during our winning run and we still manage to win. Also I don’t think we can play that high line next season. We’d get ripped apart.

With all due respect mate I’d really like to believe that multimillion pound transactions with apparent high calibre of businessmen mutually working on them doesn’t get influenced by ‘’look we’ve bought another centre half, we don’t need Mings anymore’’.

I reckon it will be worth it. The way he was sold was scandalous. I don’t think in my whole time of watching football have I seen such a talented player deemed surplus to requirement and sold on the cheap. He has unfinished business at Villa.

I get all that but whilst it’s all an unknown I think it’s fair for fans to worry for the season. We have this same conversation every year. Sometimes the squad comes good by the time the window closes. Other times it doesn’t (especially in our case). Last season being a classic example, we had new Billionaire owners and we’re being told not to worry about the defence as we now have the right people in the charge and there’s plenty of time to sort it. In the end the Window closed and we had 2 recognised centre halves in the whole squad, one that was being played on the right! I will relax when I see the squad when the window closes.

Tuazebe got back in the team because Hause got injured and then kept his place. There’s not that much different between them in my opinion. edit: I think Hutton and Elphick getting injured were blessings in disguise as Smith doesn’t seem to be a manager that drops players that are doing well even if there is a better alternative.
