    Cahill is now 12-1 to join Palace and 14-1 to joint West Ham or Arsenal. If he doesn’t come to us surely he will join a London club. You could bet on all 3 and be up. I think his coming to us.

    It’s possible. Hard to believe Bruce could have been comfortable letting the window close with 2 recognised centre halves. He managed to talk the French lad out of a move though.

    There seems to be a little pattern of teams signing highly rated players from the French league. Newcastle, eventual relegation. Villa - relegation. Fulham - relegation. Im sure there’s is a lot of quality to be found for good value. But I think it’s a pretty shit league.

    Which is how it should be. But my point is he will be bought in as a first team player. After that it’s down to him to keep his place.

    This isn’t any old player though. It’s one of the best English defenders of the last decade that has won every club competition in the game. If he is in good shape than 33 is not that old for a centre half. We need leadership and experience this season. He would be very ideal. Love to see him next to Mings who can continue to learn from whilst providing some pace and athleticism.

    No way! Cahill signs he starts! I don’t think we are going to find a better centre half than Cahill this summer!

    If we start the season poorly or when we have a bad run of games it’s inevitable some fans will turn on Smith and probably even the players. Its the nature of the beast. Im hoping Villa park stays supportive all season though and at no times because toxic. Fans will be needed for the big games against relegation rivals. keeping on topic. I expect 2 in next week.

    He’s odds on with bookies too. Closest other team is West Ham at 4-1. Probably doesn’t mean much though.

    I got carried away with the unfinished business part. If he is fit he would be a great signing. There’s quite a few big clubs after him though.

    Yeh the PR stunt was by the club. They probably always knew he would leave but not only did they get 8 million out of it. They also made him look the bad guy. He really shot himself in the foot by saying he was staying though.

    If Mcginn can perform in the Premier League the way he did in the Championship there will be a ridiculous bid coming in for him next summer from Man City. He is a pretty unique player.

    Don’t get me wrong mate. I’m also very worried. But we don’t get point for pre season games so I wouldn’t write the management off just yet.
