I think the majority of fans are happy with this news. He clearly loves the club already and will give his all for the cause. Hopefully his injury problems are behind him.

Pay 25m for a player that already loves the club and we know what he can offer? Or save 10m or so for a player from Europe that may or may not settle in the league? It’s shit that we’ve had to pay over the loads but I think it had to be done.

I’d rather we overpaid then not sign the player. I’m glad the club felt the same way. If he helps us stay up he will be worth every penny.

There’s no way in hell we are signing Sturridge. It would be the kind of signing that would sum up how the club has been ran for most of the last 10 years. Its just not going to happen.

I agree. But then no doubt fans would be blaming the manager for not starting such a good player.

Anyway I think the whole point of my original post was may get value abroad but there is always the chance of a highly rated player like Veretout not fitting in in this league. Then fans have said it’s the managers fault it didn’t work out for him and I disagreed. Thats it.

Nor did Garde. They were both shit managers but in this case I think Veretout was not cut out for the league. It was a poor signing. l remember from watching him. He looked like he was going to collapse after around 60 minutes.

I think we’d have one of the most energetic midfields that’s for sure.

I’m not absolving him of any blame. I just think it’s too convenient to blame the manager for the players failings when he just wasn’t physically up to it and it was clear to see. The other french signings seem to manage fitness wise.

I thought it was the fitnesss coaches jobs? Anyway in this case many fans blame Sherwood for Veretout not performing for us and I disagree with this. Especially if Sherwood wasn’t involved in his signing. He played, he wasn’t fit enough so he was dropped. He was a poor signing.
