    Ashley does not want to be there. He is desperate to sell the club. So just like Lerner he will invest the bare minimum he can get away with to try and stay up each year. It’s a shit situation for fans but good for clubs like us to have Newcastle in the mix for relegation.

    Just watching the Luiz v Barcelona video and he reminds me a bit of Jack. Likes to run with the ball and tends to get fouled a lot.

    It’s all about opinions but I personally think we’ve taken one of the least riskiest approaches we could. The alternative could have been signing more players with Premier League appearances. Would have maybe have been a more cautious approach although probably even more costly. Giving any of the players we released a new contract wasn’t really an option. They couldn’t even cut it in the Championship, never mind the Premier League.

    After the initial excitement of promotion had calmed down I looked at the squad and though we’re f**ked aren’t we!? Two months on and if you told me the squad looked as strong as it does now on paper I would never have believed you. Yes there are a massive amount of unknowns but when’s the last time we’ve been this prepared for a season with 2 weeks to go? I think we’d have to go back to Brian Little times. Well done to the club. Edit: I do think the window closing before the season starts helps clubs conduct their business earlier.

    I think not signing this number of players and keeping some the players released would have been a much bigger risk.

    I think we had to bring in 12 players. Our squad was just way to weak. Watford signed 19 the year they got promoted and had a good season. So it’s not unheard of. My cocern is the quality of a lot of the players we have signed. They may turn out to be superb in this league or they may just flop. There’s just so many unknowns and I see parallel to the year we went down. I sense similar excitement. But that’s the risk we’ve taken and I’m glad we have taken that risk. I also trust the club and owners and based on season ticket sale it looks like the fans do to.

    Many will disagree. But I think we have catching up to do to get to Everton’s level. Hopefully season after this one.

    I suppose the key difference is those other teams bought 4-5 players. We’ve signed 12!

    Never rated Lukaku as a World class striker. Said at the time when Man U signed him it was a mistake. Everton was his level.

    Steer would have known we were in for a keeper when he signed his contract. Considering where he was a year ago being a number 2 for an ambitious Villa in the Premier League is a great achievement. Plus he will probably play in the cups.

    It may well be but I think the rest of the league is a lot stronger now than it was back then. Especially the top 6.

    After this kind of support I think the owners and Purslow will be expecting better than a relegation battle.
