    Really hope the groin injury is nothing serious. Such a massive player for us. Worth every penny spent.

    I think Smith asked Jota to play closer to Wesley for Mcginn to cover him more. Meant Wesley wasn’t so isolated. Also the quick free kicks were the only times Everton didn’t have their solid shape so must have been something that was identified. It’s great to have a manager that knows what he’s doing.

    It’s crazy how at the game it felt like whenever Everton had the ball they would create something but on tv we seemed so comfortable. We also seemed very rushed but again on tv seemed to move it around a lot better. It felt like two different games.

    He didn’t stand out but he was pretty much everywhere and always involved. He is the kind of player that is so important to a team. A unsung hero. Was it Cantona that called the role the water carrier?

    Wow I love the way this guy bombs up and down the pitch. Creates so much space for us. We need one on the other side!

    The way the Holte sang Alez Alez for around 10 minutes non stop near the end of the game was fantastic. Saw the players over the line. Thank god Walcott missed that chance though!

    Probably already been mentioned but he played with a pain killing injection today. Inevitably he’s gonna have a spell out. What a player.

    If the likes of Maddison, Winks and Mount were in our team we’d be drooling over them and insisting they should be in the England team. I love Jack but I’ve always said he has a lot to prove and think we get over excited by how good he is. I still think he’s a midtable level player at that moment that if keeps improving and starts adding more goals and assists to his game will become a top 4 player. Edit: if only that curling effort or his header went in. That would have been his proper introduction to the Premier League. It will come.

    3 mistakes. The one where he dropped it and Bournemouth had an open goal. I think Taylor made a saving challenge. Still think he’s a good keeper but kind of starting to see why he might have been sold. Hoping for a mistake free performance tonight.

    That is true. I don’t know if we ever in for Maupay but I think it would have been a sensible signing considering the circumstances. Maybe 20m was too much after what we had already spent.

    This is debatable though. Many fans think he has done ok including me. Redknapp singled him out as a 22m pound striker after the Spurs game. If it was had 2 shockers and it was universally agreed he looks poor id probably understand there criticism a bit more. I’ve seen a lot of potential in the 2 games he’s played.

    Looks like he managed to win you over. Man the backlash 9 months ago was crazy. To be fair he was playing shit but the amount of abuse he got was harsh. Fair play to him for turning it around.

    I’m just watching best goals from 2000/2001 season and I’m sure the standard is so much higher now. Some of the defending is abysmal. You don’t see that anymore.

    Probably because he is not as good as defending and it’s important to not concede too many goals while the team are still adapting to each other and the league.

    True. Same fans though. I already heard quite a few moans and groans on Saturday though. Another defeat or 2 and it could turn toxic.

    Really interesting to see Micah Richards say players were scared to play at Villa park after 7,8 games. We really can become our own worst enemy at times. Really hope it doesn’t happen this year. Maybe worth a new thread.

    Agree but he has to score that chance when it drops to him on edge of area. We have to punish mistakes the same way we’ve been punished.
