I think we need to give Davis a start. It might even benefit Wesley to come on after 60-70 minutes as an impact sub against tiring defenders. The coaching staff must see something in training to keep giving him so many minutes. It just isn’t happening on the pitch.

We need that bit of luck with the opposition also having an off day. Everyone talks about how brilliant Norwich were but they were gifted a goal and City had an off day also missing a few sitters. Everything went for Norwich. I remember Wigan beating them the same way a couple of seasons ago.

After 7 games the fact we are saying we should have won after the last 3 games surely is a positive for a newly promoted team. The way some of the fans talk about us definitely going down you’d think we’d been turned over every game. As for having an easy start to the season. As many have pointed out we have only played one team that is currently in the bottom half and we won that game. In terms of the current average position of opposition it’s only Norwich that have had a tougher start out of the teams in the bottom half.

If the players were told to sit deep they would have worked at it and seen these games out. Like Bruce’s teams do. The fact we collapse even when we play this way proves to me it’s not a tactic at all. They are just shattered. Suprised you think Smith has resorted to lying in press conferences Dem.

No I think they are naturally dropping deep when under intense pressure because they shattered and scared of getting caught too high up the field because won’t be able to handle balls played through them. On top of that they can’t handle the press and keep giving the ball away which causes them to drop. Our fitness levels and inability to keep the ball is hurting us I also don’t think people appriecate how much better Spurs and Arsenal’s players are compared to ours. We didn’t sit deep against West Ham. We just ran out of ideas.

Not up to the fitness of the oppositions players I guess. We all talk about the ability of the top players but maybe fitness levels must be much higher too.

They’re not robots you know. When that much pressure is on players always drop deep. It’s a mental thing. If we were good enough we could play our way out of trouble but instead we kept giving it away. We were better of just smashes it up field any chance we had.

The season we went down we would get spanked in these games and lose against weaker teams by the odd goal. If we play like we did today we will have a good chance of winning our next 3 in my opinion.

Guaranteed. For some it’s all about the result. Mings heads it over and Engels smashes it up field and we win 2-1 and sit 13thx Everyone is celebrating and Smith is the best manager since JG. Such fine margins.

It’s probably true and to be fair to him only 2 of the players on the bench were new signings with one being a centre half. So that could mean that even after all the players we signed in the summer the rebuild is no way near completion. I was suprised luiz wasnt on the bench. Must be injured.

No he didn’t. He had one fully fit centre half in the whole squad when he took over. Back then you said Smith was out of his depth and would be sacked by the end of the season. You were horribly wrong about us back then mate and im confident you’ll be wrong again.

It’s only someones opinion right now. But When or if the crowd at VP turns on Smith it does start to affect the players. Just ask Steve Bruce.
