I think it actually was their B team. Were there any players missing last night that are normally considered a squad player? I think beyond their best 16/17 players they are quite light.

They could have had a decline option on the website to resell tickets. I had to ring up to give mine back. Not sure it would have made much difference though. Villa reserves v wolves reserves on a very cold Wednesday night. We did well to get 34k.

The next round is an interesting one. Teams will still rotate but being that close to a semi final may opt for more first team players. I personally can’t see anyone beating city. Haven’t they won 2 out the last 3?

You’re right. It’s how they got very good results against top 6 teams last season and managed it again against Man City. To be fair they have got some very good players though.

I don’t think they played a third team. It just seems they have quite a small squad so had to bring in quite a few youngsters to rest first team players. Apparently they only used 19 players the whole of last season.

Is it fair to say we have a stronger squad than Brighton and Wolves based on what we’ve seen in the cup?

They had 28% of the ball that game so we could have won very comfortably if we just raised our game a little. But end of the day that was our second team and we still won so can’t really complain. We all know a few of them aren’t good enough for where we want to be but for a first season back in the top flight it’s not a bad team to put out when there’s 9 changes from the previous game!

Petrov was superb for us in the season when he played along side Milner. I got a shirt with his name on that back after that season and I never buy shirts with names on the back! Right back on topic. Need the 2nd.

Why’s that surprising? He’s a good player and has been consistent since February.

We’re not playing well but I think sometimes you need the opponent to be able to offer more to be able to lift your game. Have you ever played football with really crap players and found it really frustrating. This game feels like that.

No worries I can see how it might have sounded. I just hope we don’t get a Swansea type situation like last season. But to be fair we’ve got a decent squad so even with a lot of changes we should be alright.

I can’t make today so I’m trying to inform the club so they can resell the ticket. Struggling to get through though. They really should have given this option online. It’s going to lead to empty seats.
