  1. Hate to say it but his record does suggest that. It’s never pretty but it’s normally effective.
  2. Just looking at. Newcastle results and they are actually having a very good season. They haven’t lost in 5 and out of the 5 games they have lost all season season 3 them were against teams from last seasons top 6 and another was Leicester. This is going to be a lot harder than people think.
  3. Whenever I’ve seen them play this season their front 3, wingers in particular have been quite a handful going forward but not so good when having to defend. They are set up to have bodies behind the ball and then hit on the break with pace. They way we play could really suit them if they score first. They are very good at parking the bus. If we score first and they are forced to be more attacking I think we’ll win comfortably.
  4. That’s like saying if Norwich can beat city they should be able to beat every other top club. Hell they should be winning the league!
  5. They are not meaningless games. I just don’t care how other teams have done against so called big teams. I care about villa staying up. Don’t care how they do it. The OP just felt like another negative stat to beat us with.
  6. Sorry to pick on you mate but I’m going through posts and people are talking about how the results are not too bad for us then I see this. We might be the only club not to take a single point against a so called big club but seriously who gives a f**k as long as we beat teams around us?!
  7. No it’s not. It’s realistic stuff. The negativity on here really boils my piss at times.
  8. In Feb we were thinking about our promotion challenge in 19/20 without Grealish and Mcginn. Season was all but over. Ill take worrying about relegation over that.
  9. Rafas already in a job. An extremely high paid one.
  10. This a good result for us. West Ham are really struggling and their goal difference is crap too.
  11. I suppose it could work but we’d have to give it several games I reckon before the players got used to it.
  12. I don’t think he is meant to even be a target man. It’s happening because we aren’t moving the ball around well enough and than having to resort to hoofing the ball up to him. He then has to battle to win it and it’s not his game. Wesley is not a target man which is why he is not playing like one. He just looks isolated all the time because in most cases we just aren’t as good as the opposition so end up on the back foot.
  13. I see where you coming from but I also hate it when managers try something new (which they probably don’t believe in) out of desperation and the players look clueless after a week or so of working on it. Smith must be working extremely hard day in day out on this system and formation to see improvement every game. I don’t think he should be changing it to suit the players. The players need to change how they are playing to suit the system and how he wants them to play. I also disagree with those that say it isn’t working. Wolves and Spurs aside we have competed well in every game. The system and formation isn’t the problem. It’s the way the players are executing it in my opinion.
  14. Considering we got such a new team I think Smith has done a great job to have us where we are at this stage of the season. Yes we have lost a lot of games but we are competing in most. We’ve also been unlikely with a lot of decisions. Yes Smith has made mistakes and is constantly learning. But I honestly don’t think many managers would have done a better job at this stage considering the rebuild that was required. Has there ever been this much of a rebuild with a newly promoted team? I seem to recall Watford made a lot of changes when they first came up and struggled for the first half of the season. I expect the same. This team will only get better. edit: just had a look and Watford actually had a decent start so I was wrong about that. They were on 16 points after 13 games. Assuming we beat Newcastle we will be on 14 which will be a similar start. Also noticed on that table we had 5 points and - 14 gf after 13 games that season. Shocking.
  15. Nah it was his first game back when we ended the unbeaten run against Derby.I think we did win however win a game without Jack in the 10 game run. Against an in form Bristol City I think.
  16. Jo Swinson was on when I was flicking through channels. I didn’t listen to her but My only thought was would I? Then I though whats wrong with me?? Now I’m going to bed.
  17. Doubt that very much. The same fans that were calling for his head back in February will be doing the same. Just the way it is. If the worst is to happen and we don’t pick up any points from next 4.(even though I don’t think that will happen). We then have a run of games from Dec 14th to jan 1st which are all 6 pointers. Those are the games that will define our season.
  18. That doesn’t come across in your posts mate.
  19. When I got married 9 years ago I wore a shirt that was too tight at the collar so had to undue top button. Now I despise all wedding photos as looked scruffy. My suit wasn’t well fitted either. It doesn’t even matter and it’s so trivial but it consumes me and whenever I see a tie I get reminded of it. At times I think maybe the tie is just a symbol for my marriage. (Maybe this was for a different thread).
  20. It is a must win game. But absolute disaster?
  21. The older I get the less I get upset about things. As a great character once said. Nobody exists on purpose Nobody belongs anywhere Everybody is going to die. Come watch TV
  22. Don’t be so dramatic mate. It will be bad and leave us in a very poor situation but an absolute disaster? Give me a break.
  23. This is why I love VT off topic so much. Every days a school day
