But 17 games in the championship can not be used to determine whether a Smith side can defend in the championship. Instead we must look at our defence in the strongest league in the world. If that isn’t enough then we must also look at Sheffield United and Wolves. The fact we are not as good as them will determine whether we are good enough for automatic promotion or not.

Villalad said exactly that. He is also saying we wouldn’t get automatic promotion because Smiths teams can’t defend. Even though under Smith we had the second best defence in the championship after he got his signings in. These are the points I am debating with him.

Which is why we are using our defence under Smith in the championship to determine how we will do in the championship! You can’t use our defence in the Premier League to decide whether we would be good enough for automatic promotion or not. Makes no sense. for the record I don’t care if we sack Smith. I don’t even care about football anymore. But you my friend are on the wind up once again and then really gets my goat.

We are two open and our defence is shit. I get that. But to say there has been nothing good out of the season and it’s embarrassing is what winds me up. It’s pure hyperbole.

If any of our relegation rivals lost their number 1 and 2 keeper, their second best player, and their main striker. I’d say they would have struggled too. fine margins.

That’s probably because you’re a fair weather fan who’s doesn't really understand what ‘supporting’ a team means. I had a great day at the semi final against Leicester and also a great day out at Wembley even though we lost. The two last minutes winners against Brighton and Watford were also great moments. Everton at home was one of the best nights at Villa park in years. Hugging the fans around me when we scored late goals is what it’s all about. We take what we can get. But you continue to be embarrassed mate.

Maybe they should scrap European football for next season. Give leagues a chance to finish this season and next season too without the extra games.

Smith has bottled it for saying 2 top players are refusing to play. But hang on, our only top player is Jack. But maybe Mcginn and Mings? Nah they are nowhere near good enough to be called top players. So who could they be? All this when Smith didn’t even say ‘top’ players. I love VT

That’s true. I have to admit I watched some World Cup classics on bbc yesterday and it gave me goosebumps. International football has had a bad rap in recent years but you can’t beat the World Cup and Euros for the pure emotion.
