  1. Kind of helps when you have the best players in the world to do the defending from the front. Being top players are not just about having better technique. They are also much fitter and certain cases stronger players in my opinion.
  2. I still think they are more than good enough for a mid table Premier League team. They both have over 30 caps each too. I see where you’re coming from with them both being overrated though.
  3. He was apparently on 160k a week which at the time made him one of the highest paid players in the world. How do we make that kind of statement of intent?
  4. I think most of those fringe players would improve us to be honest. But it would destroy our current wage structure.
  5. Bit harsh to say Stones and Barkley have done **** all. Stones has 85 appearances and Barkley 50. Yes neither of them proved to be good enough for Man City and Chelsea but I think they would be very good players for us.
  6. They phoned me yesterday to take bank details to send refund too. Also had an email confirmation.
  7. There’s a lot of talk about spending big on transfer fees and owner ambition. Fans are forgetting about wages. To attract top players to a team that were fighting relegation you have to pay them silly wages. That is how Man City managed to sign the best. Due to FFP we just can’t do that anymore. So whilst we love seeing big names linked to us and could probably even pay the transfer fee for them.. We wouldn’t them be able to also pay the 100k+ a week or so salary they would want with it.
  8. And to be fair Lansbury and Hourihane were bought for the championship. It was only Konsa and Jota signed for top flight and Jota was always a squad player with Konsa for the future. If we’re going to look at last summer as a measure of where not to sign players from it would means avoid Belgium like the plague! It’s never that simple.
  9. Again I’m looking at the top scorers in the premier league last season and in not seeing any obscure great value for money signings. They are either youth players, very expensive players, or players that had to make it in lower leagues to get their chance. edit: Who are these better value for money strikers out there?
  10. On a serious note. I think comparing the signing of Wesley in terms of value for money to a player that never even completed 90 minutes for us is pretty ridiculous.
  11. Good post but it’s been said time and time again. The posters mind is made up on him. People are wasting their time trying to convince otherwise. Theres no going back from a comparison with Bosko Balaban...
  12. Out of interest. How did you know of Dashmesh?
  13. I haven’t seen his YouTube video but I once saw him take a long straight ball down on his chest whilst turning on the edge of the area and volleying in to the top corner. It was fantastic technique and not something many players could pull off at a high level. Now I’m not for second basing my whole judgment of him on that one moment. It’s just something that was very impressive. edit: found it. Not as good as I remembered it
  14. Oh you were talking about Hogan and Konsa fees combined!?
  15. They sold Maupay for 20 last season. What’s changed in a year for them to now want 25m+ for a striker that is probably not as good as Maupay?
  16. Can’t see Brentford refusing 20 million to be honest.
  17. In fact there 25 players in the Premier league that scored 10 or more last season. 7 of them played for teams in lower leagues! 9 if you include Harry Kane and Abraham. That’s not bad numbers. Edit: 10 if you include Mahrez.
  18. 2 of the top 3 premier league scorers this season are English and spent several years in the lower leagues before finally getting a crack at the Premier League. I’d welcome this signing.
  19. First game of the season. Can’t remember any after that.
