  1. I used to live there, and my (scottish) girlfriend absolutely loved it. it may have changed a lot, but I doubt it. Maybe it's different if you're just visiting. Fantastic place, IMO. Newquay? Recomend any places to go eat or things to do? I can see how it could be good if surf and do activities etc but missus expecting so not up for anything. Something else I really should have considered before booking it really.
  2. I'm one of those that has been saying for a while I think Vlaar will leave but I wouldn't blame the club for selling him if he wants to leave.
  3. Similar position to Barcelona? We've never been that big really. Apart from the early 80s success when was the last time we were really successful or dominant? We as fans need to accept we are just not that big a club. We could have been, but that time has passed for now.
  4. It actually costs about £120 a year, I'm a member. If Villa wanted to go that way we would have to become a sporting members club (again) which is what Barca is, it runs all sorts of teams playing a variety of sports. So for us to do that we as supporters and prospective members would have to buy the club off Randy. So if the price is £200m and we can get 50,000 members we would all have to chip in £4,000 each and then we have to provide working capital and hope the club was self financing going forward. It's not going to happen. We will just have to wait for the mythical '£200m US Takeover'. I will start a thread about this when get chance as there were quite a lot of posts previously on the subject rightly removed as OT. Barcelona are a completely different kettle of fish to us. Main team of a region of 7M people that want independence from Spain. It's almost like an International team in its own right. We in comparison are small fry. Can't see a takeover anytime soon. Can see relegation before a takeover which I think would increase our chances of being bought on the cheap.
  5. Don't really rate him but he did score a few crucial goals to be fair.
  6. Gonna go for a drive tomorrow if weather better. Which of the above you recommend?
  7. They should pay 200M compensation!
  8. Yeah I blundered with this place. Should have done more research.
  9. R, It's not that there aren't protests, it whether the British media chooses to run with them, whether they fit this week's story arc. Dogs haven't stopped biting kids, but they don't make the papers anymore. Similarly, I doubt protests have stopped in Rio, but that's an old story now. I walk up Whitehall once or twice a week at the moment, I can assure you that there are protests on Parliament Square or directly across from Downing Street every single day about all manner of conflicts and issues. There were thousands of Sri Lankans there a couple of weeks ago pleading for help that they are being ethnically cleansed by the majority demographic. It didn't make the papers needless to say as it didn't fit with the rest of the news. Good post. Remember Egyptian protests recently? 3 days later not a thing mentioned in the news.
  10. Hope so. Would be depressing watching him join (supposedly) skint Everton on a permanent basis. I think he's over rated anyway. There's a reason Jose not keen on keeping him.
  11. Young English players have generally done ok at Arsenal. It's a squad game these days. He will get plenty of games.
  12. I think Markovic is a big signing. The kids 20 and looked one of Benfica's best players. I think he could be a star.
  13. Anyone seen assassination of Jesse James? Bout to come on ITV4 +1. Wondering whether to watch it.
  14. All of the above might have started out in the name of god. After that it's just a continuation of revenge.
  15. I think they missed the train with that Gerrard slip. All they can hope for now is to be Arsenal. Its better than being us but still. Maybe but I think they got a special manager in Rodgers. They played superb football last season and have quite a young squad that will improve. Be interesting to see how they do without Suarez.
  16. I just made a sandwich and it tasted fine. Now I have just been told the bread I used is way out of date and even has mold on it. Now all of a sudden my stomach hurts.
  17. I think it's a exciting time to be a Liverpool fan. Their future is starting to look bright under Rodgers.
  18. My mate went to Barcelona he says the crime is ridiculous there and pick pocketing is rife i'd hold onto your wallet if i were you My wallet got pickpocketed, they took the 10 or 20 euros out and gave me the wallet back which contained my bank card and drivers license. Very generous thieves.
  19. You use all of the money to find replacements. Something Lerner refused to do because he had already blown so much on average players that we couldn't get rid of. The ones that were half decent we sold on the cheap because some how how they wernt good enough. The last 5 years have been a disaster. Southampton have lost a lot of players but made a lot of money. Let's see how much of that money is reinvested. I have a feeling quite a lot of it will be.
  20. I hear Barcelona has over 100,000 members and each membership costs over £1000 a year. That's a 100M a year generated just with membership fees.
  21. When will it end? On the creation of ISIS? When people there finally understand that there is no God. So never?
