Well he's no Luke Shaw, obviously. Maybe he hasn't been approached because Utd have made it pretty clear they'd rather make marquee signings for positions they're already competitive in than address the obvious deficiencies in their squad. Probably because it would involve being a bit more utilitarian and having to sign one or two "unknowns" like Vlaar, which as those RedCafe quotes show, will go down badly with a fanbase whose expectations have no bearing on the situation they find themselves in. This is exactly why I think they haven't approached him. They know he is good enough but pride is stopping them from making the bid. If they get desperate they will swallow that pride and approach us IMO. Hope not though. You have to remember. This is a fan base that feel they can still win the league.

You know what. If Vlaar is not good enough for United than we should be very happy about that. He is our Captain and crucial to our team. Screw what United or anybody else things about him. We need him big time.

He is a tidy little player. Great touch and moves it around well. I just can't tell if we make him look better than he is or worse than he is. Does that make sense?

I don't think he is overhyped at all and the complete opposite really. He has played at such a top level that every mistake is capitalised on which is why he isn't rated. If Vlaar played at that level and made the same number of mistakes he has for us over the last 2 seasons he probably wouldn't be rated either. Put Evans in a team like ours and he will be a rock. E.g. Sendoras.

The wire is amazing and you will end up watching it back to back. I think audiences were low because BBC 2 had it and there was no advertising or promotion. I found about it after it had finished on TV.

Brown, O'Shea and Evans are all as good as Vlaar or at least were when younger. You don't play that many games for several years for a very successful Man U team if you are crap.
