Don't think it was composure, he was too composed if anything. He tried to place it in the middle of the goal, when all he had to do was hit it to the corner and the keeper was never getting it. Luiz gave the keeper a chance (and was a great save) by hitting it centrally. Am I the only one thinking he could have volleyed it? or was it too high?

It's a footnote in the history of the club now. If we go onto win the cup, in 5 years we won't remember what happened in the actual match, we'll only remember the pen shootout and Emi's heroics.

Not at all impossible if we can keep Emery here for a few years. Look at the state of Liverpool when Klopp took over from Rodgers, they were floating around the Europa spots and below for years (that one season they bottled the league aside). An elite manager and some key signings transformed them into a juggernaut, and if it wasn't for some financial doping from City they would have won a lot more.

By all accounts he shouldn't be suspended, as the yellow he got in the pen shootout is not listed in the official UEFA page on the match. Lille-Aston Villa | UEFA Europa Conference League 2023/24 | UEFA.com According to that, the last yellow issued by the ref was Gomes on 117 mins. So, if he hasn't officially received a third yellow, then he should be fine. Saying that, I'd be more than happy to have Olsen play the 1st leg at home if need be.

Be very difficult to replace. I don't think their recruitment has been that good recently, Darwin is a donkey and the others they've signed are good players, but just not up to the standard they.ve had before, not at the level to compete with City.

I don't think Emery would leave the project yet, maybe in the future when he's felt he's achieved enough here. Bayern won't have a shortage to manager to choose from, and seems like they still want Alonso, so may go for a stop gap until next summer.

The extra 5th spot was calculated on this season alone, you're thinking of the overall co-efficient for 4 places, it's based on a 5 -year average and England are miles ahead of the rest in that.

How can Spurs be blamed for this season co-efficient when they weren't in Europe? The extra spot for CL was based on this season only, what Spurs did three seasons ago had no bearing. The only way Italy can have 6 teams in CL is if one of them wins Europa and finished outside top 5.

It's in our own hands to get fourth and we will have no one to blame but ourselves if we don't get it. But it's just annoying the safety net of 5th has been taken away.
