  1. Sherwood got the end of the 2014/15 season and the start of the 2015/16 season, McLeish got a full season.
  2. We were sold the idea we were getting a manager with an unnatural desire to win and a backroom team filled with tactical geniuses'
  3. Mainly because it's absurd that people want a manager sacked after 5 months.
  4. I don't know any other team that plays with two narrow 10s the way we do. Only one I can think of is Milan under Ancelotti, but they had Seedorf and Kaka, and probably the best defense in the world at the time, maybe ever. It might have worked in Scotland were most teams sat back and defended against Rangers, but it's not working in the Prem.
  5. It's the same after every defeat as well saying we were not good enough, then goes out an plays the exact same team the following week.
  6. We are very tight lipped with out transfers the past few season (Ings being an example). We have no idea who the recruitment team have or are looking at.
  7. I think the only way it would happen is if Leeds got relegated, but that's looking unlikely now.
  8. Has the same vibe doesn't it? Smith-Rowe, Ward-Prose, waste the whole window trying to get them, then end up with nobody.
  9. Again, that was mainly down to having a player like Grealish. Jack was nearly always double marked when he played, allowing Targett to receive the ball and get to the byline for a cross. Arguably Digne is a better player than Targett, if he had played for us when we had Grealish, we would have seen an even better number of corsses.
  10. Have the utmost respect for Dean, he brought us back and kept us in the league. But we were a one man team, we struggled massively in the PL when Jack was out injured.
  11. Smith didn't have a system, it was 'pass the ball to Jack'
  12. This has a good hammering written all over it. I would just match Spurs formation and hope for the best, if we play our usual system Kane and Son will have a field day. ---------------------------Martinez----------------------------- ------Chambers------Konsa--------------Mings------- Cash---------Luiz--------------Ramsey-----------Digne -----------------Buendia-----------Coutinho--------------- ---------------------------Watkins------------------------------- Or drop Buendia or Coutinho and go with Watkins/Ings up top.
  13. Plenty of good players made good managers back in the day; Cryuff, Capello, Trapattoni, Ancelotti, Dalglish to name a few.

    Ezri Konsa

If we have a better season that is. Remember when we were all saying Konsa should be one of the first names in the England team? We've went from that to struggling to sell.
  15. I doubt he'll be looking to stay as back up to Cash if Strasbourg get into the Champions League.
  16. That would be the most likely scenario, if 'Project Gerrard' fails, both Gerrard and Purslow will get the boot.
  17. I'm sure he will manage them someday, I just don't see it while Liverpool are at the level they are at currently. They will have the pick of any manager in Europe within reason.
  18. If SG doesn't get us into Europe or at least wins a trophy, he isn't getting the Liverpool job in 2024. If Kloop decides to leave in 2024, Liverpool will have the pick of any elite manager in world football. Legend or not, the Liverpool owners won't pick Klopp's replacement on sentiment, you only have to look at Lampard and Ole to see that doesn't work at the level they are at.
  19. I thought he turned into Claude Makelele when he was out injured?
  20. I think when most people say 'winger's they mean it as wide players in general, not that they are traditional out and out wingers. Bailey and Traore are traditionally wide players, Buendia can play wide or as a 10.
  21. And considering we don't play with the wingers we have already, I doubt we are going to spend £50m on another one.
  22. I was under the impression that the tactics were mainly down to Beale and the other coaches, SG was more the face of the coaching team and motivator. Anyway, this system is so inconsistent due to the players we have at the minute. One game we look brilliant, then next game we completely fall apart. A good manager would be able to adapt the system to fit the players he has, not shoehorn players in who don't fit. I'd go 4231 or 433 next game and try and make use of some of the wingers we spent £100m on.
  23. How long will SG be given? Not saying he should be sacked, but if we are in the same boat this time next season floating about mid table after spending another £100m+.
