  1. Unfortunately this is true. Two good holding midfielders, with Buendia - Coutinho - Baily in front and either Watkins or Ings as striker would be fantastic.
  2. Possibly, but United signed Smith, Ferdinand and Cantona from Leeds before, so don't think it would be an issue.
  3. Can't see us getting Phillips, we are being used by his agent to get a better contract or a move to United.
  4. I wouldn't go near him, the ego of Ronaldo with the career of Stewart Downing.
  5. I think people here will just have to accept that SG will be in charge next season weather they like him or not, and is likely going to oversee a clear-out of the current team and massive transfer expenditure in the Summer. Only way that doesn't happen is if we lose every game between now and the end of the season, in which case the owners might reconsider his tenure.
  6. I don't think a 31 year old from a relegated Everton is going to excite many on here, most fans are expecting a huge sum to be dropped on a big name DM. The problem is who can we actually attract to the club in that position? Looking at a list of DMs ranked by market valuation, their aren't many names we could get on the list. So it will end up being a bargain but not the most exciting, or an unknown player from abroad, who may need time to develop.
  7. It was always going to be unlikely he came here as we are not currently much of an upgrade at the minute to Leeds, money would have been the only reason he moved here. But it's zero chance now.
  8. He's linked to United now. Was always unlikely he'd leave Leeds for us.
  9. You've left out the 'first-name-on-team-sheet' and 'un-droppable' John McGinn.
  10. I would add Cash to that list of improved players.
  11. He's still young, so hopefully over time he can learn when to pass and when to shoot. But he's instinctively a great finisher, If he has the right service he'll score for fun.
  12. It can be a good or bad trait. Ronaldo is greedy for example, he wants to score as many as possible.
  13. It's been a good learning curve for him. Hopefully get to see him in pre-season, and if he's not quite ready a full season with Preston again.
  14. Well they do have a manager, Ralf Rangnick. United sign players regardless of who the manager is, it's the main reason they are in the mess they are in.
  15. I see McGinn linked with United this morning? Cash in and sign Gallagher perhaps?
  16. I'd imagine the SG would say he needs a player in a certain position, Lange and the recruitment team would present a number of achievable targets, make offers/inquire, then SG would have final say to go ahead. I could be talking rubbish though, who knows.
  17. Surely as Sporting Director, it will be Lange that is spending the money? I'm sure SG will have identified what areas of the squad need strengthening, and may even have some input. But it's pretty naïve to think the club are just giving him a cheque book and say "Have at it Stevie."
  18. Or a 4231, with two holding mids and 3 attacking mids
  19. Hickey would be a great signing, he's both footed so can play either left or right. Biggest issue is convincing him to come and be a backup to Digne or Cash.
  20. The here and now is what is needed to break the top 6. Liverpool, City, Chelsea etc. sign players that improve their squads now, not in 3 or 4 seasons, they don't worry about signing a 28 year old because they won't turn a profit. That's selling club mentality.
  21. If we have a truly abysmal end to the season and SG gets sacked, then Purslow would get the boot too I reckon. Then it's another backroom overhaul and another season down the drain.
  22. Then we will need to invest in some full-backs in the summer as well as a CD and DM. We can't go into next season with only Digne and Cash, first choice though they might be. Hopefully pre-season KKH can be assessed if he is good enough for a back up role to Cash next season.
  23. It would benefit Archer immensely training with Suarez everyday (minus the biting and racist remarks).
  24. Definitely a worry, if Nakamaba doesn't immediately play like prime Makelele then serious questions will be asked as to why he's persisting with this system if he doesn't have the personnel.
