Ashley Young?
It will be heard to find a senior player who is prepared to sit on the bench behind a 22 and 21 year old, and one that is actually good enough to play when called upon.
I still think we’ll be in the market for a CM. Someone to go straight into first team, which means McGinn/Ramsey fighting for last midfield spot. Unless Ramsey is used as rotation in one of the 10s.
I agree. He would probably do as a back up, someone to bring on if we are holding a lead. But everything we've heard about a new CB is that SG is after a ball playing CB who can pass, at Tarkowski isn't that.
I think it would offer the perfect balance in midfield:
Kamara = #6
Bissouma = #6/8 hybrid
Ramsey = #8
Bissouma would offer additional protection midfield, allowing Ramsey to go forward.
How does Kamara coming in change the rest of the transfer window? I still think SG will want another midfielder, will he still go in for a Phillips/Bissouma/Sangare type?
Konsa's injury might be a bit of a blessing, as weird as that sounds. We can go all out for a marquee signing at CB without rocking the boat too much. Konsa won't be going anywhere now until the end of next season or January at the earliest. So he can fight his way back into the team when he's fit again or leave at the end of the season, he'd still be a decent back-up.
Reading some of the reaction on Twitter from Atletico fans. They are amazed he's chosen us over them a real blow for La Liga, even comparing it to Mbappe snubbing Real.
