I agree, although Emery is someone we should inquire about as he is yet to agree a new contract at Villarreal which expires in June.

How would we set up in an Emery 442? I suppose Buendia could play on the right and Bailey on left, JJ could probably also play as a wide midfielder. The problem would be Coutinho, I suppose we could play 4411 with Coutinho behind the striker.

Agreed, it wouldn't be a wow signing for me, but he could at least get basic coaching right and would put us in a much better position to attract a better coach in a few seasons.

He was my first choice before we got Gerrard, his River team plays some mesmerising stuff.

I would take just about anybody right now. Emery would be an interesting choice; he might feel he has unfinished business in the PL, and he loves a 442.

Just had a wee look at one of their forums, and in their match thread they seem up for this one. I'd imagine their stadium will be packed and bouncing, this will not be an easy game, we know most of our players cave under the slightest bit of pressure. If they take an early lead what is our gameplan?

He's on the same as Moyes, Rodgers, Arteta, Lampard and Parker (before he was sacked), and less than Hassenhutl.

He's not that highly rated, he's only managed mid-table or lower league Italian teams until he was hired by Shakhtar Donetsk. I didn't say we couldn't attract a better quality of manager.

Such as? Has anyone thought that maybe we have contacted some managers, but they aren't interested? There is no point sacking Gerrard unless we have someone lined up.
