  1. I feel much more confident having Dendoncker backup to Kamara than Nakamba.
  2. Nobody thinks he's the next Zidane, but there was no justification for McGinn starting every single week over him. He hadn't played a single minute this season, not even as a sub, despite our midfield be terrible under Gerrard. Most of us just want to see him play, he might be crap, but we won't know until he gets a consistent run of games.
  3. I wouldn't make changes just for the sake of it. I think there will be some, just so Emery can get a look at some of the other players. Digne probably should be rested, so either Young or Augustinsson could start over him. And I can see Ings starting over Watkins possibly and think a change in midfield. Other than that, I'd keep the same
  4. I reckon we'll see Chambers at RB under Emery; Cash was much more reserved in going forward allowing Digne to be much further advanced. Obviously, he can play CB too, it's good we have so much versatility
  5. Pretty much this. He's a top of the Championship/Bottom of the PL player. Not good enough to be starting for a team with top half/European ambitions. But he could be useful as a squad player. With 20-30 mins to go and opposition stating to tire, he's perfect to bring on as he'll not stop running until the final whistle.
  6. By the end of this season, it will be called the Bailey role.
  7. Took his goal well yesterday. Could be a real asset for us as a goal scoring midfielder, arriving late in the box and has shown he has great composure to stick it in the net.
  8. Hopefully see a strong lineup for this one, maybe with one or two coming in rotating. Do we start Kamara for this? Or ease him back in for a start vs. Brighton?
  9. What shape? Could be 4231, 433 or 442
  10. Perhaps he needs to step down to League One again with a new loan.
  11. McGinn trying to work out Emery's instructions after a year of Gerrard hoofball.

    Unai Emery

That's because Gerrard was just the face of the coaching team, it was probably Beale that had the clipboard.

    Unai Emery

The World Cup break effectively gives him a short pre-season though.
  14. After Emery was sacked at Arsenal in November 2019, Martinez was one of the few Arsenal players to issue a statement of his own. The shot-stopper even apologised in light of the decision, writing: "Thank you @UnaiEmery_ and Javi [assistant coach] I’m sorry we let you down, it’s our fault for not performing the right way, I’m sure we will meet again." Sounds like they are on good terms, I reckon Emi will be made captain at some point.

Emery is a cup specialist. I’m confident we can win a cup with him if he’s backed in the transfer market.

    Unai Emery

Well winning a cup gets you into Europe.
  17. I think he would be a decent signing; he would fit the 'Danjuma' role in Emery's setup. And is only 25.
  18. Are you intentionally just ignoring his goals for Rennes?
  19. He's a forward. I mentioned him in the last transfer thread. He had very good stats last season if I recall correctly.
  20. Coutinho 2.0, what's the point of this? We need to be signing players in the 23-26 age bracket.

I wonder will we see much of a turnover in the squad come January, I could see a few players being moved on.
  22. I would imagine Cutler and the keepers would have been aware of this as soon as Emery was announced.

    Ezri Konsa

You could be right. Konsa can also play RB though so perhaps we'll see that at some point.
  24. 6th and 7th don't even guarantee European football anyway, they are entirely dependent on who wins the cups. I would take a cup win and 10th any day of the week.
