  1. Xenophobia, not racism. I kind of get where he's coming from though. I think International football is different from club football, the best players from the nation are picked to represent the team, the same should apply to coaching staff IMO. The English FA using their wealth hiring an elite foreign manager is effectively cheating, no different to what City and PSG are doing throwing money about to buy success..
  2. He can play up front as deeper striker, or on the left cutting in. I think he'd suit us quite well under Emery.
  3. It's because we aren't doing it on the pitch currently (thanks to Stevie). We can't expect fans of other clubs to know what's happening with Villa off the pitch in the background, NSWE aren't exactly at the forefront of things like say Abramovich was. Once we improve result under Emery, they'll take notice.
  4. Forget Endrick, we need to sign Messinho.
  5. Linked with Stefan de Vrij along with Leicester and Atletico Madrid.
  6. One reason why the B team model works well, youth players in Spain, Germany etc are playing against men week in week out.
  7. Better than a young Cristiano Ronaldo, sign him up.
  8. Carlos will eventually come back to replace Konsa, only other player in that XI that needs upgrading eventually is probably Cash.
  9. Didn't he think he was joining Man Utd
  10. Martinez Cash - Konsa - Mings - Digne Luiz - Kamara Bailey - Buendia - Joao Felix Thuram This team finishes in European places THIS season, and I can't be convinced otherwise.
  11. Didn't he win the Golden Boy award when he played for them, he must have been doing something right?
  12. I think 80-90m is a realistic figure, which is only going to decrease as his contract runs down, there is no way someone will pay 140m for him, especially since he wants to leave. Atletico will have to take a hit on him, they massively overpaid for him in 2019.
  13. We didn't pay £22m for Gestede though
  14. Manchester United lead transfer race for £86m Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix - Paper Round - Eurosport This article links him to Man Utd with a price of £86m, I cannot see us getting anywhere near that price tag, unless it is some player exchange deal like Luiz or Martinez + £40m or something like that.
  15. I don't think Atletico would accept a loan, they gambled on paying big for him, it mostly hasn't worked out so I'd imagine they'd want some sort of return on their investment even if it means taking a hit.
  16. It's the only way I can make sense of this happening, probably with some significant "agent fees" for Mendes, and possibly massive incentives for him if/when Felix would be sold to an "elite" club.
  17. If we somehow pull this off, it will down to the Mendes-Sawiris link. Are we the new Wolves?
  18. But since Grealish left, we signed Coutinho, Digne, Carlos and Kamara all on top wages, along with high earners Bailey and Ings and new contract for Martinez. I don't think we currently have the wage budget to offer Joao Felix about £250,000 a week, we just aren't at that level.
  19. Has there? He's on about £100,000 more than our highest earner, I've not seen anyone suggest how we would overcome that issue. The ONLY way this happens if it's some sort of dodgy transfer deal involving Mendes.
  20. As unlikely as it is, Joao Felix would be perfect for that 9/10 hybrid role Emery plays, part of the front 2 but sitting much deeper than either Ings or Watkins. Bailey could be used as more of a traditional winger.
  21. Just can't see it happening due to the finances involved, as much as I would love him here. I do wonder if our name has been leaked to try and get a move somewhere else, but then why would they not use Newcastle, would be more realistic with the money involved.
