  1. I've read that but think it's all BS. When Emery was sacked from Arsenal, Martinez was one of the few players that thanks him on social media. Don't think he'd have done that if they had a bad relationship.
  2. I don't think they'd pay what we would demand, which could be as high as £80m as we have no reason to sell, and he is on a long contact. There will be much cheaper options for Spurs, possibly someone like Oblak who's contract is running down and seems to want a new challenge.
  3. Same, but only if Martinez is playing. If Olsen is in nets then a 3-1 defeat.
  4. Elite goalkeeper don't tend to move around that much, and there are not many that could afford Martinez currently. The PL teams don't need a keeper, PSG, Real, Barca don't need one. Don't think the Italian teams or Atletico could afford him. The only one I could see is Bayern after Neur injury, but think they are going to go for Livakovic. He's not going anywhere unless he kicks up a fuss and wants to leave.
  5. I’m sure it will all be forgotten when he sets up the winner on boxing day
  6. You can have the best scouting system in the world, but players will always slip through the cracks. Azzedine Ounahi who plays for Angers is being 'monitored' by Barcelona and is linked €45m move to Leicester. I suspect he'll not be the only player in the team to be linked with a transfer off the back of this World Cup.
  7. I think we'll find out soon enough, can't see him moving in January. Games will be coming thick and fast in next few months so he should get plenty of opportunity to show what he can do, if not then chances are he'll move on in summer.
  8. I see, didn't realize they had changed the rules. Shame he didn't get it sorted with Morocco before the WC, would likely have been called up.
  9. I don't think there is any truth in them. Juventus could be playing lower league football very soon. And the whole fall out with Emery thing is BS. Martinez was one of the only Arsenal players to post a thank you message on social media when Arsenal sacked Emery.
  10. It might turn out that Emery can't get him back to his best, which is fine, but he needs to be given the chance at least. But there are people on here looking him turfed out immediately before he's even kicked a ball under Emery.
  11. This is spot on for me, a clean slate for everyone else except for Phil because he's "Gerrard's mate". You only have to look at the social media accounts for Martinez, Buendia or Luiz to see all the South American players seem to be a close group with along with all their families. And I have heard nothing to suggest that Phil wants out. So, unless we hear from the player himself that he wants to leave, or from UE that he doesn't want him, then he should get our full backing.
  12. Argentina are the masters of shithousery, Emi is only doing what's in his DNA.
  13. Was just looking up Moroccan players who have played for Villa, and seen that El Ghazi was eligible to play for Morocco and that he was trying to switch allegiance before the world cup, but how's that possible if he's played twice for Netherlands in competitive fixtures?
  14. It will be ultimately up to Emi weather the plays against Liverpool or not, hopefully he does as Olsen is a calamity and no amount of Emery Ball will prevent us shipping goals against Liverpool.
  15. How many teams are going to be in for these Morocco players after this WC? Some of them play for pretty mediocre teams, I'd imagine the WC will have raised their profiles somewhat.
  16. Just imagine that if Argentina win the World Cup, it could be down to this moment here when Cutler called Emi after the Saudi game
  17. No chance he's playing against Liverpool. We just have to hope we score plenty, as we will ship at least 2/3 goals with Olsen in goals.

    Unai Emery

The formation isn't that important, it's the style of play and team/player instructions that matter. Man City recently have played a 442 in the Champions League, yet they don't play the same way as Burnley or Southampton. An efficient team should be able to play the same way they always do, even if the formation changes.
  19. So, we have been used as bait to attract a 'big 6' team. Was always going to be the case, we aren't in the £80m player bracket (yet). Emery will know where the team needs improved, and we should trust that he'll get the players he wants.

    Unai Emery

442 can easily transition into a 4231. One of the strikers drops into the 10 position and the two wide players push up and you have a 4231.
  21. It's mental how a player is being written off based on how he performed under the previous manager. Other players were given a clean slate under Emery, but not Phil apparently.
  22. I agree, I don't think we'll see too many incomings in January. One at most.
  23. Even if he doesn’t win, he’s the first villa player to play in a WC final whilst playing for Villa.
  24. Penalty for me. If a defender blocks a winger out field the same way, it’s defo a free kick.
  25. Juventus supposedly going to offer £22m + Weston McKennie to sign Martinez. Probably a load of rubbish but that's a no thanks from me.
