    Maybe Watkins was touch and go, but it looks like he's back in training. Also, the way I read it was that he's withdrew to complete his medical etc., it didn't specifically say he wouldn't return to Colombia.

    Watkins looks like he's back in training anyway going by the pics on the OS, so may start at the weekend. Our problem hasn't been the strikers not scoring though, it's been creating chances. We have scored 22 league goals from an xG of 23.2, so pretty much on par. The problem lies in that we are 15th in big chances created. We simply havn't created enough. It appears Emery is addressing this though with the signing of Moreno, and the players we've been linked with being progressive midfield types and wide attackers. If we can create more chances, we'll score more goals.

    Not if you consider that Marseille will need to buy a replacement. If other teams know Marseille are going to sell one of their starting midfielders and will have a boost in money, those teams will ask for more for their player. This could be a way for Marseille to quietly find a replacement for Guendouzi.

    We don't. Since Emery came in only 4 teams have scored more goals than us in the league, so we seem to be doing okay in that department. We are more in need of wide players who can create more chances for our strikers and chip in with goals. I don't think we'll see another striker until 1 of Ings or Watkins moves on, which won't be this season.

    Pure clickbait. No indication in the article how they've come to that fee, just added to the title for clicks. That was the original fee being reported back during the WC (Transfers: Leicester ready to break the bank for Azzedine Ounahi, the midfielder of Morocco and Angers - L'Équipe (lequipe.fr)) when Leicester were supposedly linked with him. It's just being regurgitated now. If it does end up being that much will be made up of performace addons.

    I'm not sure it would be as high as that, I think that was the initial fee that was being reported during the WC, so probably just getting regurgitated in all the articles. Angers are bottom and going to get relegated, I don't think they would be able to refuse any decent offers.

    It's been suggested our interest in Ounahi is just to put pressure on Marseille, so you could be right.

    Of the midfielders we are linked with, my preference would be Guendouzi > Ounahi > McKennie. If Twitter is to be believed, McKennie has rejected us, and possibly Guendouzi has as well. And seems the owner of Angers has flown to England to discuss a transfer for Ounahi with English clubs, us and Leeds by all accounts. Similar fees reported for those three players, but think Ounahi deal could be made up mostly of addons.

    Angers are currently bottom of Ligue 1, their top scorer has only 4 goals.

    Based on the type of players we're linked with, looks like we are definitely in the market for a midfielder and a winger, I think that will be it for January. Moreno Duran (more of a bonus signing, one for the future) New CM New Winger

    Duran has only had 12 months in MLS. It would be a similar signing to him, not quite first team ready but one to integrate slowly. Probably one for the summer rather than January.

    Seems we are one of a few clubs interested in Luiz Henrique of Real Betis. Another Brazilian added to the team would be nice, he looks quite fast and skillful as well.

    Never even heard of him before the world cup. I'd be wary of signing players after having a good world cup.

    I don't believe we were ever in for him. All just rumours, and likely his agent or Juventus trying to get his name about.
