Where do you think we’d be if we hadn’t got Emery, but instead had gotten Poch or that Amorim fella we were linked with?
I’ll admit, I had wanted Poch as my first choice. I think we’d be doing okay under him, but not a chance we’d be in 6th.
If we can finish above Spurs it sort of guarantees us 7th at least. There is a very high possibility us, Brighton and Liverpool finish above them. It then depends on what order we finish 7th, 6th and 5th.
4th a long shot, would need United or Newcastle to also implode.
Buendia looked much better in that role than Bailey has at any point. With Ramsey and McGinn cutting in from either flank, it was like a narrow 4231. If we want someone to fill that role, they have to be able to play as a 10, Bailey can’t.
Spurs look like they’re in free fall, we could be 3 points aHead of them after next two games, we have Brentford and Fulham, they have Newcastle and Man U.
In a way we should be sort of relieved. If he had done marginally better he probably wouldn’t have been sacked, or not sacked after the Fulham game anyway. And we probably wouldn’t have Emery now.
“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”
It’s why we are currently much better than Chelsea or Spurs. They have great individual players, but we’re a team.
How many games had Newcastle lost all season? Emery cares not for such things.
Brentford haven’t won in 5 games, and are all but out of the race for Europe. We will put them to the sword.
