  1. Right, but the player you’re describing is literally players like Olise. They are the best players at the clubs below us, and if we want them, because they fit our system/make us better, we have to overpay. They alternative is to go abroad, and get a player as good as, for half the price. The risk in doing that, is they might not be cut out for the PL.
  2. This is exactly what was being discussed a few pages ago, when it was suggested we should shop abroad for better value. If you shop PL, you pay the premium.
  3. He would be brilliant under Emery. And is only 21 so his value could go up further after a few seasons under Unai. Could very easily turn a profit on him even if he was bought for £50m.
  4. I don't think ESR is worth a club record fee, his injury record at his age is terrible, too much of a risk. Olise, yes. Eze, don't know about record fee, but I wouldn't say no.
  5. I guess it doesn't seem like a controversial point if you think Smith-Rowe is that much better than the other two, I don't think he is.
  6. My point is you would pay a club record fee for ESR, but not for Olise/Eze?
  7. You were literally talking about paying a record club fee a few pages ago for Emille Smith-Row
  8. I'm no expert on Palace's finances, an article in The Athletic states they are financially healthy, but if they want to spend this summer they have to sell. And by sell, I mean a star player, not some fringe player. Selling fringe players isn't exactly easy, we should know, after all we couldn't get rid of Guilbert etc. and had to ship half of them out on loan.
  9. Their best players are who'll make them the most profit. Nobody is paying big money for Nathaniel Clyne. If we were in a position were we needed to sell to buy, do you think we'd have a bigger transfer budget if we sold Kamara and Luiz or Sanson and Nakamba?
  10. They are losing Zaha for free as well don't forget. If they want to buy anybody this summer, they have to sell. Maybe not all of their stars but at least one of them for big money will have to be sold, they will then sign 2 or 3 highly rated youngsters and hope they reach the same level. Rinse and repeat. Maybe not, but he might if a team that can offer him European football comes in for him.
  11. And we would have to if we had no money. Benteke aside, the last time Palace sold a player for any money was September 2020 They can't keep going without selling players, they have to cash in at some point.
  12. Normally I'd agree, but looking at their outgoing transfers, the only player they've sold this season is Benteke and nobody last season. The last time they sold a player was 2020/21 season. More or less no income from players sales, surely FFP will hammer them?
  13. Just seeing they only player they've sold in the last two season is Benteke for a few million to DC United. Surely FFP is gonna hit them hard this summer with practically no income from player sales since 2020/21 season. And they are going to lose Zaha for free as well so might see some starters sold this summer.
  14. If we are in the market for a winger, I wouldn't mind having a look at Olise at Palace, left footed and plays on the right. Looks a better player than Bailey too. Palace have to sell some players in summer you'd imagine, the only player they've sold in last 2 season is Benteke for a few million. Can see them cashing in on Olise and Eze.
  15. You just know we won't beat United. Even if we batter them, VAR won't allow it. No chance they will let us do the double over them in the league and risk their chances of top 4.

    Unai Emery

Same, I just follow the twitter updates.
  17. Welcome to the club Antonio, please find us a Brazilian winger and Spanish ball-playing defender.
  18. Decent was enough for midtable, we need exceptional to push on to the next level.
  19. With the links to Antonio Cordon as Sporting Director resurfacing, I'd imagine we are going to be spending the bulk of our budget outside the PL, based purely on the fact the new sporting director and his scouts don't know the PL as well as La Liga and the South American markets. That's not to say we won't shop in the PL, if a good deal is available and Emery wants the player then we'll go for it. Just a feeling that it won't be our primary market this summer.
  20. When Emery arrived initially, he said he wanted another striker. I wonder has the impact Watkins is having maybe going to reassess that view for Emery in the summer? I don't think any of us could have predicted that Watkins would start playing the way he is. We might shift our focus to someone to partner Watkins, not an out and out striker but more of a goal scoring wide player, think Mo Salah.
  21. That only leaves San Miguel then, which smells like a fart in a bottle. Guess we could always stock up on some Spanish rioja.
  22. It's also likely Emery has probably asked for this.
  23. Looks like Gerrard has competition for that Liverpool job when Klopp eventually leaves
