Is the general consensus not that the current squad is looking a bit tired, and that's even without cup/euro football. We have very little rotation options at present.
Also, the two players you've mentioned (Pau Torres and Ugarte), in their positions we've had serious injury issues with players currently playing there this season. Some quality additions needed to cover/rotate.
Unless Spurs have a poor finish, we will end up 8th. Some might be disappointed, but we will benefit in the long run.
With potentially 5 CL spots next season and no European football to contend with, we can push for CL, same as Newcastle are doing this season.
Swings and Roundabouts.
Seems to be a player that hasn't done that great wherever he's been, EXCEPT when he's played under Emery.
Unai seems to get him to another level that other managers simply can't.
So, for that reason, I'm fine with bringing him in if it's for a decent fee. Depends how desperate Spurs are in getting rid of him, we could maybe get him on loan with an option to buy.
My only concern would be his injury record.
Seems we are interested in Pau Torres for €30,00m. Would be a statement signing, linked with some big clubs in past. Certainly fits the ball playing defender Emery wants.
Where is all this high line talk come from? Because we played one against Spurs? They are a counter attacking team, the high line made sense. Liverpool are not, I'm sure Emery is aware of this.
Look at Pep and Klopp moving Stones and TAA infield, they’re being hailed as tactical geniuses. If Emery did something similar, it would Only be a matter of time before we’re “found out”
Poch at Chelsea might convince him they will get back on track. United have won a trophy this season and are in the final of another, they might not challenge City, not many do.
