    Yep, need options for alternative formations and strategies. If Emery had joined the club and we had nothing but wingers, we'd be playing a totally different way. He makes use of what we have, rather than trying to fit players to systems they are not suited too. I'm sure i've read from him that he want's players that offer something he doesn't already have, I think he was referring to a striker, but no reason why it wouldn't apply to other roles.

    Spurs have been consistently finishing in the top 6/top 4 for over a decade, but it means **** all as they've nothing to show for it. Trophies will be remembered in 100 years; nobody is going to remember finishing in the top 4 a few times.

    It's 100% about money but can't really blame him, he's won everything there is to win, might as well relax in the MLS and make a tonne of $$$. The deals he's signed with MLS, Apple and Adidas were too good to turn down.

    I would imagine if you played for a club for 20+ years, you would be somewhat emotional when you leave them? He doesn't owe Barca anything, he followed the money, nothing wrong with that.

    If he was cheap, could be a decent alternative to Bailey. Better goal output than Leon, would take some of the burden off Ollie.

    La Liga have buyout clauses, not release clauses for players (I assume staff too). Technically, the players himself buys out the contract, and is re-imbursed by the club he's moving too. From what i've read Monchi want's his contract terminated.

    Barca sign players and literally don't know if they'll be able to register them or not. I don't get this whole thing where people think Messi should play for Barca for free or take a huge pay cut to play for them, why should he? They couldn't afford him, so he went elsewhere.

    Huge signing for MLS reputation. They seem to have gone away from the retirement league image they had for a few years and have shifted their recruitment to promising South Americans in recent years. Messi in the MLS will be huge in the buildup to 2026.

    I think the overall coefficient is based on a 5-year average, but from what I read about the CL expansion (if I was reading it correctly), the extra two spots are based on the previous year only, and not the 5 year average.

    Extra two spots for 24-25 CL as it's being expanded to 36 teams. So the best two performing nations in the coefficient will get two extra spots, England would have received an extra spot in the last 6 seasons if it had applied. the better English teams do next season means more chance of getting that 5th spot.

    I think that's we are being linked with players like Lo Celso and Tielemans, they don't massively improve the starting XI but are rather another option of similar quality.

    They did. But they couldn't play their final game against Rennes because of Covid, so were given a 3-0 loss which meant they finished 3rd in their group.
