  1. How can you factor in the number of goals somebody will score? Or clean sheets?
  2. The proposal is for the bottom placed teams TV money to be used as an "anchor". Teams could then spend up to 4 times this in player wages. Official Premier League figures for the 2021-22 season show the team finishing 20th, Norwich City, were paid £100.6 million in TV money, so if wage bills were restricted to four times that sum it would set the maximum at £402.4 million. The club with the highest wage bill that season were Manchester United, with £384 million, which would have been inside the hypothetical limit. So, it's not going to have any impact at all then then unless the TV money goes down drastically. Waste of time.
  3. Don't know the details yet, but couldn't they just increase incentive bonuses? Things like goal bonuses, clean sheet etc, unless there is cap on them also. Signing on bonuses would go up massively, again unless they capped them. 3rd part sponsorships? Don't think increasing any of them would be fraud.
  4. Depends, even with a salary cap, PL team could probably still pay more salary than 99% of UEFA clubs.
  5. I'm sure the likes of City, United etc will find creative ways around a cap.
  6. Exactly, or they'll just funnel the money through the players sponserships.
  7. What's the point. The super rich will just find another way around it, £1million goal bonuses or £100,000 for taking a throw in or corner, or over inflated signing on fees.
  8. Not sure it will. Money hasn't been the issue with United not keeping up with City, it's the footballing structure City put in place for Pep to succeed. United have spent similar amounts as City under Pep in the same period, they are just run poorly. Unless United's new owners but a solid football setup in place, they'll just keep spunking money on transfers every window,
  9. Think United will go for Kane. Mbappe strikes be as the kind of player that wouldn't want to ruin his legacy by coming to the PL and flopping, he'll go to Madrid and stat pad.
  10. Most just want the Glazers out, they don't really need wealthy owners.
  11. Any idea when we're likely to hear more on this? It's going to be weird seeing new signings photos with Emery and Monchi instead of Lange.
  12. You can still sign them, just can't register them until the widow is open, see Tielemans to Villa, Mac Allister to Liverpool, Messi to Miami.
  13. Unless they have another Greek keeper?
  14. Linked with Benfica’s Greek keeper. You know what that means.
  15. Should have let them all join the Super League.
  16. Benfica's starting keeper to replace Martinez?
  17. This is a bit more re-assuring. I think Emery will be the big difference in his time here compared to Roma. This could be another signing that fans of other clubs will take note of, they will all know Monchi, they will realise at some point we aren’t here to make up the numbers.
  18. Sounds like they already decided to part ways, can't see him staying now. Welcome Monchi!
