    Mings and Konsa did a fine job last season defensively, didn't concede many goals bar a couple games under Emery. But the fact we are even in for Torres despite having two good defenders means Emery wants more than just CBs who defend well. He wants them to have the passing ability to start attacks. Mings and Konsa simply don't have that in their locker, Konsa especially, Mings has to a degree, but nowhere near the level of Torres.

    Seems to be some fans want Torres and some don't because we have Mings. For what it's worth, If Emery thinks we need Torres then we need Torres.

    They'll believe they can command that fee, mainly due to him being labeled the "Turkish Messi" in the media, and will try and rinse whatever club buys him for as much as they can.

    Despite the cheap-ish release clause, there are apparently a lot of hidden fees with this one. His father, (who must be his agent) is demanding a commission of 15-20m, and Fenerbache also want a huge sell on clause.

    Torres is streets ahead of Konsa and even Mings in terms of passing, weather he is defensively as sound in the PL remains to be seen. If we did sign Torres, we could possibly see Konsa depart.

    There is no guarantee that Carlos will even be able to play at the level we thought he would. So, adding another quality CB makes sense.

    Torres is also still young enough that he could get move her then in a few years move onto an elite club.

    I think he will, as likelihood we need to keep him to meet homegrown rules for ECL.

    Hard to predict what will happen. Hopefully the uncertainty of United's takeover means they miss out on Kim Min Jae and he goes to Bayern, allowing us to get in there for Torres.

    He's an option for them to replace Hernandez, but they also want Kim Min Jae from Napoli, they won't go for both.

    Also Emery had him at PSG so will know him well. As always, in Emery we trust.
