I don’t feel as disappointed after listening to the lads on the Love of McGrath podcast. Sounds like this is a Monchi driven thing, happens in Spain apparently, particularly Madrid. If it is Monchi, I think AJ won’t be the last to leave this way.
It’s because Emery has inverted the system. We had a right footer on left as Moreno overlapped. Whereas Cash will be doing that on the right this match.
I think this one will hurt more than say Archer or another youth player, because he’s Jacobs brother. I think most on here were hoping/expecting them both to be mainstays in the senior team. May still happen of course, if any buy back clause is activated.
Not true. It depends on the terms of the buy back clause. City have a buy back clause for Romeo Lavia, but it doesn’t kick in until 2024. They might not get a chance to activate it, as he’s probably joining Liverpool this summer.
Yeah I think the idea is to hopefully produce some decent footballers and sell for profit, not sell the crown jewel of the academy before he’s even got a chance.
What if that happens to AJ? What if it takes him longer to develop than we have the option to buy back? The buy back doesn’t last forever, it will have an expiry date. We’ll have sold a promising player for peanuts, a team like City might have the finances to not be phased like something like that, we don’t.
Chelsea had a buy back clause inserted for Nathan Ake when they sold him to Bournemouth. City came in and bid more and the player chose City.
The buy back clause only means they have to accept our agreed price. It doesn’t stop other teams offering more, I’m pretty sure that would be illegal.
If we have a buy back clause for £20m, it just means Burnley HAS to accept our offer, even if the player is valued more. It doesn’t mean they can’t also accept other offers from other teams.
If we activate the buy back clause, but City or Liverpool bid £35m, sorry, but the player is not choosing us.
He CHOOSE to go back to PSG, was nothing stopping him rejecting them and going to another club if they had bid.
A buy back clause just means we can buy him back for an agreed price. Nothing stopping other clubs paying more for him. Would be down to the player.
Defensive stats are misleading. Players in teams at the bottom of the league have more defending to do, therefore will have better stats than players in the top teams. Adam’s defensive actions are better than Rodri’s. Who would you choose?
What if he ends up being really good and is sold to City for £40m, our buy back clause ins't going to be much use then, and we'll have sold a top player for peanuts.
He is I agree, but Chambers is possibly more content to be backup as he can cover CB, RB and DM so is more likely to be used as a sub or start in the event of an injury crisis.
There is no guarantee that Dendoncker would even come in to the starting XI in the absence of Kamara, we could see Tielemans x Luiz, Tielemans x McGinn or Luiz x McGinn combinations before we see Dendoncker.
I don't think Pau will start against Newcastle, would be Mings and Konsa for me. That's going to be a tough away game, with their crowd and how physical a team they are, Pau is a good defender but would be a tough first game for him up against Callum Wilson.
Can't see Dendoncker staying now, he's not going to get much game time, except probably to rest Kamara. But if we need cover for Kamara then Chambers can surely fulfill that role.
