  1. Who gets the credit for the 1st 70 min? Sherwood is still a young manager he'll learn from this. All these people moaning now I bet were singing his praises until they scored. If it happens more than once it's an issue if it's a one off you can put it down to experience.

  2. Question how many keepers are worse than Guzan in the PL?

    Dozens.

No names Stevo? Just be interested to know who we think is worse.

Kean, Wright, Spiegel, Blackman, Maddison, Rose, Gazzaniga, Gilmartin, Johnstone, Kelvin Davies, Darlow, Schwarzer, Bunn, Rudd, Robles, Foster, Elliot, Arlauskis, Nordfelt, Hennessey, Haugaard, Speroni, Bogdan, Given, Federici, Randolph, Boruc, Ruddy, McCarthy, Myhill, Gomes, Steer

Those are ones I'd consider certainly worse than Guzan.

There's several others who I'd rate Guzan as better than, but I left them out for sake of argument.

there's 20 teams in the PL so out of the other 19 1st choice keepers who is worse? Guzans decision making is awful and is getting worse. This isn't the keeper we had 2 years ago Guzan kept us games under Lambert but is now costing us.

  3. We were the better team by a mile but it was too easy for so long when Leicetser decided to up it we were stunned. We fell apart at 2 nil up. Sherwood should've put extra bodies in midfield but he got carried away aswell thinking it was job done. Hopefully we learn from this and don't relax again. If we play like the first 70 min for the rest of the season we will be fine.

  4. Doubt this will sell out given the strict restrictions. Tickets selling pretty slowly at the moment.

what strict restrictions? The only restriction is that you've been to a villa game.

  5. It amazes me that after last year and people moaning about not assigning tickets some are doing it again. If you've bought a ticket in the last 12 months you will more than likely get a ticket but it's up to you to get them assigned properly. I think we will sell out but it'll go down to the last few days. I'm a ST holder and haven't bought mine yet because I want to sit with some mates who haven't got the privileges I have and I know a few others doing the same.

  6. We haven't seen enough of Ayew to make a decision. Even if he'd have played every minute so far it'd still be way to early to decide. He scores goals at International level and in top flight football in France so he's not a bad player yet people are writing him off as if he's worse than Jordan Bowery! As mentioned Benteke was written off in the same sort of fashion when he started playing and he turned out OK.

  7. Too many central defenders. Feels like he is doing a Tottenham/West Ham/Redknapp and buying too many players in the hope that some will make it and throw away the rest, and then start over next transfer window. Most of the players he has bought are of equal quality to those who are here. Talent wise, I don't think Ilori is any better than Okore, and it makes the buy of Crespo obsolete. Then you have those 3 with Senderos and Clark competing against Richards and Lescott. That is 5 central defenders on the bench!!!

Okore is injured and may not be back for a couple of months. At present we don't have any right sided cover for Richards in Llori we now do. Lescott and Clark will fight it out for left side. Senderos isn't wanted Crespo can cover all across the back line apparently. We have other defenders who Sherwood doesn't fancy but we can't get anyone to take them off our hands yet. For the first time in ages we actually have a pretty decent squad not just in numbers in quality. there won't be 5 central defenders on the bench probably 2 like normal!! After a cracking transfer window I was perplexed at people moaning but most just wanted more goals but congratulations you're the first to moan we have too many defenders!

  8. Something I dont think anyone else has noticed, wasn't paddy Reilly the head of player recruitment at Liverpool when he signed for them?

Id guess Reilly I behind this more than Sherwood

No-The kid is another one who falls into the age category of when Sherwood was in charge of the Spurs youth set up. This is a Sherwood signing alright.

he was bought for big money but never given a chance. Whether Reilly or Sherwood picked him he seems to have the attributes to be a very good player.

  9. The squad as whole looks very good. Only time will tell if we have enough goals in the team but after last year I don't see it being any worse so allied to a better defence I'm quite confident. Just looking at an 11 of only new signings it looks a lot better than last years. 2 weeks now to get them gelling more as we have some important games ahead.

  10. All Summer not one ITK has had a clue what's going on at VP. The only time they've got close is when the deals are very close to being done and by that time it's public knowledge. Things can change very fast today as Sherwood said it can be a case of the domino effect. I wouldn't want Dwight Gayle for £5m let alone £10m he might be worth a loan move but there's a reason he's not a starter for Palace. I am still confident we will get a striker in add that to Lescott and it's been a very good window.

  11. Why are people saying we've failed to replace Benteke when we have bought 2 strikers who've hardly had a chance to show what they're capable of? Have we replaced Delph? Or are people happy with the midfield signings so don't bring it up? If we tried to replace the Benteke that we sold with a like for like replacement we may not have been able to buy some of the other 10 or so we have. Don't get me wrong I'd prefer another striker in but saying we haven't replaced Benteke is as stupid as saying we signed the wrong Ayew. I remember some people on here writing Benteke off after a handful of games as well.

  12. We had 3 defensive midfielders on the park and a player who has only really played at fullback under this manager.

That is why we didn't create real clear-cut chances from midfield.

Midfield players today were starting from too deep, most of the time, to properly support the forward.

The few times the midfield did get close to Gestede, the shots he set-up for them, looked like they had been studying at the Gabby Agbonlahor shooting school for strikers.

Again our most effective striker was left-winger Scott Sinclair and that was because of his movement, which nobody on the pitch was able to read.

We would have done better, in an attacking sense, with Sanchez as the lone DM, Gueye as the box-to-box player, Cole as the attacking player and Gil and Sinclair as the wide midfielders.

With his clever movement and ability to be in the right place at the right time, I think Kozak would have been the better choice as striker.

Out of interest did you go to the game? We created quite a lot. Joe Cole didn't look the best against County so I'm not sure if he would've been the answer. Gueye isn't a defensive player he can do it because he is good but he can do a lot more. Would you consider Delph a defensive player? We were the better team but sometimes you don't get what you deserve.

  13. Lescott is a back up CB who will push Clark. Evans I'd imagine would want to be 1st choice he's also spent his whole career at United were you very rarely have to defend for the majority of the time and also had world class players around him so let's see how he fares when that's swapped around.

  14. I don't think it's too early to judge Sherwood either. He has been here since Feb and has roughly a 50% win record. If he keeps that up I'd expect even his biggest haters would be happy!! What you can't judge him on is how the players are settling and how they are or are going to perform its way to early to do that. As for judging the players who've been here a while Gabby has been in the team for nearly 10 years and I for one hope he'll get replaced sooner rather than later but it may be just a bit early for some of the new guys to take his place especially if we are playing 2 up front. As for Westwood who always seems to get stick. He has been playing well and deserves his place in the team at the minute.

  15. Is he really like Gabby in terms of pace ?

He isnt quick in anything Ive seen from him. What impressed me was his tackling and some aerial duels. He clearly seem more technical than Gabby.

Im still not sure about his main position. He played wide Vs Bournmouth. Striker Vs Man Utd.

I dont think hes a good winger. Nor a game against Utd could test a striker. How did he do Vs Notts is interesting though. Ive not seen many who were impressed by him there. Still early days but sometimes you could see signs of good stuff.

Against County he got involved deep quite a lot but then kept going offside. I'm not sure whether it was eagerness or stupidity or the fact we aren't used to our strikers making runs. Hopefully it's the latter and we can get used to him and release the ball a bit quicker if that's the case he'll be fine as he does make done good runs.

  16. The only players to do themselves any justice last night were Sanchez Grealish Gil Veretout Adama Sinclair.

    I'd go for

    Bunn

    Bacuna Richards Clark Amavi

    Westwood Gueye

    Gil Grealish Sinclair

    Rudy

We will have a lot of the ball as long as we don't get caught on the counter we'll win comfortably.

So by that logic Bunn did himself not justice last night, but you'd drop Guzan to bring him in anyway?

Bunn didn't do anything wrong but he wasn't under that much pressure really. He only had a couple of things to do but I think Guzan is looking shaky so I'd give him the start. Fair play to you for trying to pick holes in it but you may have noticed not all the players I think did well got in.

  17. The only players to do themselves any justice last night were Sanchez Grealish Gil Veretout Adama Sinclair.

    I'd go for

    Bunn

    Bacuna Richards Clark Amavi

    Westwood Gueye

    Gil Grealish Sinclair

    Rudy

We will have a lot of the ball as long as we don't get caught on the counter we'll win comfortably.

  18. Everyone is entitled to their opinion I think most just want explanations on how you get to those views. That's why I'm baffled how people form an opinion on a score line it's bad enough at the end of a game but during is unbelievable. If you're watching it you can judge if you're just reading a vidi printer you can say it's not good enough but you can't question how we are playing as you don't know. Imagine forming your opinion on Gregg Evans match reports in the Mail. It's just silly.

  19. I love the way people judge players attitude by what they read in the press or their perceived actions. Most were gutted we lost Benteke yet he did exactly what Berahino has done. I'd pay £24m for him all day long. He scores goals he can play in more than one position and would fit in perfectly with what we've got. I doubt we'd be a significant jump for him to be interested never mind us having the money to get him but I'd put a bid in for a laugh just to annoy Levy!!

  20. I think the majority will criticise at the right time but some who have an agenda against TS bang on about the same things his so called ego, tactics, 442 etc Yet his dispelled all of them. I hate it when someone slags the manager for blatantly wrong things and some then go over the top in support to balance it out. So far TS hasn't done much wrong. The only thing that's bugging me at the minute is the inclusion of Gabby hopefully though that'll sort itself out with the performances of Gil Grealish Adama and Sinclair. I'd even give Ayew a chance before Gabby as at least he runs off the ball.
