I doubt we'll be doing any Man City/PSG style breaking of the rules anyway. There might be a slight bending of the Championship FFP rules in the same way Bournemouth and Leicester did, but I think there will be some disappointed fans if they think we'll go down the Man City/PSG route.

Nothing wrong with dreaming pal! We won't break championship FFP aslong as we go up then if the Dr Xia is serious we will have to break the PL FFP to get where he wants in a few years. Dream now whilst you can as the reality when it arrives may be a lot different.

No one died as a result of MPs' expenses cheats, doesn't mean it's OK.

Bit of a difference when ones a criminal act the other is just breaking the glass ceiling rules! MCFC and PSG have broke FFP to get where they are now. Bournemouth got a roughly £10m fine for breaking it I'm sure they're gutted they did seeing as it's been worth £100m+!! Fortunately if we go straight back up it won't affect us so spend away Dr Xia then sponsor everything in sight to get us up amongst the big boys.

  3. I had reservations about RDM but if Clarke is true and Bond he'll have a very decent backroom staff. 2 good coaches with loads of experience. I've always preferred Clarke as a No2 aswell.

Andre Gray is the record Transfer in the Championship. £9.3m

Only 3 players in the history of the Championship have cost more than £8m.

I said it before, but people are grossly overestimating the money that is spent in that league. I'm not saying we can't and won't break the spending record, I just don't think we'll be doing it on unproven players in positions that aren't in dire need of strengthening.

Ross McCormack went for £11-12m so that's not correct. Spending £8m for a player who is only good enough for the Championship is probably silly but if you spend it on a player who will be good enough for the Premeir League aswell it isn't so bad. We need a goal scorer so that's where we should spend big as we should've done last year. I'd take Carroll and Powell on frees. I think you'd have to pay a tribunal fee for Carroll because of his age though. I'd get rid of Sanchez as I doubt he'd be any good in the hustle and bustle of the league. We will need a big squad. Centre Mid options of Westwood,Gardner, Gana Carroll,Powell and an older head like Barton was for Burnley and I think we'd be strong enough in there with virtually no spend at all. RDM needs to try his best to get Barry back. Then I'd pay whatever for McCormack as he's proven and probably the best we can get.

They do spout a lot of crap, but not ‘everything’ is regurgitated from the internet. They have loads of influence and connections in the game; more than they should, and I am sure they have broken the odd exclusive.  Time will tell if this has any substance, probably not, but the fact they have a reporter camped outside BMH suggests they have heard something to me.

I never said everything but the vast majority is 2nd hand news. RDM seems nailed on for today so they probably dispatched the reporter for that reason. I'd love Xia to be done in the next 48 but there's no chance IMO and I will whole heartedly apologise if I'm wrong and I'll worship Sky sports once again as the font of football knowledge.

I understand that is what you think I am just passing on what Sky Sports are saying.

And I was just pointing out how Sky contradict themselves. They used to break stories now they just regurgitate crap off the Internet and add Sky Sports understands before it.

I haven't heard anyone say the TAKEOVER could be ratified before the weekend, although I may have missed it.

I get the cynicism about another another 48 hours but I assume he is standing outside BMH for a reason

Dr Xia has to have an interview with the FL first before its ratified and it can be up to 10 days after that before it is. Sky actually state that when they talk about the Swansea takeover. I doubt it'll be done in the next 48 and fully expect RDM to be appointed first. As long as it's all progressing we'll be fine.

  8. Socfin was also involved in the sale of Mallorca so it seems they're more facilitators than anything else. It'd be strange for them to take on board positions though.

Well depends how you look at it? Is he saying it in a way that he thinks he's revealing the news? Probably not.

I read it as, a friends told me it ain't happening but it needs to go to the FL anyway before anything is decided.

I don't know.... like I said yesterday, I don't think the sources saying there's nothing to worry about are anymore trustworthy than those saying there is.

Wilkins has been giving sly digs ever since he got sacked. This is just another one he hasn't a clue so states a fact in such a way it's a negative. Every sale has to go to the league to be ratified. The only people who've questioned the sale recently have been Talksport related a random tweet the other day then Chalie Sale, Wilkins and Danny Kelly spreading the rumour on Talksport this morning which Talksport started! For some reason Lambert and Wilkins love to talk about us both are idiots who need to move on with their lives.

Some new poster on here posted a few pages ago about Kevin Bond and Steve Clark (Assistant)

More likely though to be Steve Holland (Coach) working with RDM and Eddie Newton (Assistant) as they have worked with Roberto before as coach and assistant.

Thanks. Hopefully Conte will bring his own staff in and we can get both Newton and Holland in. I can't see Bond or Clark coming in especially Clark as an assistant.

  11. I wonder why Swansea's drawn out takeover hasn't gone under as much scrutiny? Is it because there investment group is American? Hopefully Dr Xia is as rich as we hoped and it's more than enough to get us where he wants so the big teams are getting their press friends to create a nuisance.

  12. I'd say some of these games have been in the pipeline for some time and others have been added late on. Walsall could've been in our league so we wouldn't want them in a friendly. Nantes probably had a friendly arrangement agreed when we signed Veretout. The Sun article said Hollis had various options for RDM to look at so I think it's nailed on he'll be joining this week. I'm glad we aren't doing too much traveling as we need as much time training as possible. Middlesbrough as a last game should be a decent bench mark for the coming season but ultimately it's all about fitness in preseason.

  13. I hope Xia appoints a media savvy CEO to be his mouth piece as there seems to have been an agenda to unsettle him since his name come out. Apparently he is very private and doesn't like the press intrusion so as long as he goes to games and occasionally does an interview let his CEO take all the crap. I'm sure we will all be happy with that.

I don't disagree with any of this.

It doesn't change the fact that you can't blame defensive disorganisation on the goalkeeper alone. It's ludicrous.

All good defences work as a unit including the keeper. He does affect organisation but isn't solely responsible.

  15. The playoff final has only just been done with the last football league game yesterday. Today is the first day when the actual leagues are all known so I expect that's why it's not official straight away. Hopefully Dr Xia flies in this week and it's a case of getting it signed off immediately. Get RDM in straight away if that's his choice and start moving forward.

    Believe me.

Having played goalkeeper/centreback for most of my life, you can't blame defensive organisation (or lack of) on the goalkeeper.

he helps, but that is primarily the responsibility of, believe it or not, the defence.

Top keepers ooze confidence and are reassuring to the defence. If you don't know what your keeper is going to do it affects your game. Guzan has lost his confidence and looks a liability.  Bunn isn't a better keeper but he is better at keeping calm which helps the defence so it's a trade off. We desperately need a new keeper though. It's a position that should've been sorted last summer and cost us badly last season.

  17. Last season was always going to be tough on Jack. It turned out to be a nightmare injuries, changing allegiance and loss of form combined with the state the club was in all affected him. He needs to be 1st choice now and I hope it's for us. He's a Villan so you'd hope he wants to get us back up and he is still unproven and young so a year in the Championship wouldn't harm him. RDM needs to be string with Jack and the others he wants to keep. Give us the year them we'll sell if we haven't come back up.

Been utter shit for the best part of half a decade.

    IMO!

He's decent not top half of premier league class but easily top end championship. You can question his ability but not his attitude unlike some of the other players previously mentioned.
