There's a guy at my running club who is one of the toughest, hardest blokes I have ever met. He told me he had one of those massages on his calf once that made him cry! my mate does this sort of thing for a living and he reckons the thing with deep tissue massage is that if it hurts someone then the masseur is doing it wrong .... seems to be this perception that you have to push as hard as you can in some form of test of strength but by doing so all you are doing is pushing the muscle down onto the bone thus creating that pain sensation (or something like that , I have a very short attention span to learning new stuff) Obviously if you push the muscle onto the bone then its going to hurt like ****, on the other hand, if you massage a muscle that hurts anyway with an amount of pressure then its going to hurt like **** also. To sum it up, either way it hurts like ****! But yes, i agree with what your saying GT.

Ive had a few mate. I used to struggle/suffer with muscle tension/cramp of my trapezius which was sports related. A deep tissue massage hurts like **** at times but you feel amazing afterwards. I think i paid around £30-£40. Worth every penny.

Ive just brought John Richardsons book 'Dream On' after being told about it in the golf thread. John Richardson is a 28 handicapper who struggles to break 100 shots per round. He then sets himself a target of playing a level par round of golf at his home course within the space of 12 months while holding down a full time job, looking after a young family etc. He only goes and does it!!! Tis a true story too, should be a good read.

Woods had a nightmare yesterday! Throwing clubs and all sorts. Drove into a fairway bunker leaving himself about 170 yards to the green. Spannered his approach out of the bunker into the desert and proceeds to sling his club out of the bunker. He then tries to play the ball from under a cactus left handed with a right handed club and duffs it about 10 yards! *facepalm* Looks like Donald could be knocked of the #1 spot if Westwood or McIlroy go on to win in Arazona. Also, after it was mentioned in this thread, ive order John Richardson's book 'Dream On' which should be delivered today....down to scratch by Christmas then! 8)

On the whole he's played well this season and in patches has been the best player on the pitch for us...yet people still get on his case!?!? Still head and shoulders above everyone else in the squad technically. And as for people calling him a prick...grow the **** up!
