Great appointment, as many have said, i agree that he was the best available. They said on the radio on the way into work this morning that in his final season at Liverpool, the team scored something like 125 goals. I just hope Kevin MacDonald is given a decent role in the running of things, maybe 1st team coach. MYSTERYMAN, any news on this?

People are yet to give a good reason why they dislike Thompson so much? Just because he is a Liverpool fan? Do you think Alex Ferguson is a Man Utd fan? Do you think Mourinho hesitated putting one over his old team when he is clearly and always will be a Chelsea fan? Christ...he refers to them as ''my team''! But did that stop him knopcking them out the Champians League...did it ****!!! These guys are professionals, i could care less if Phil Thompson still has a season ticket at Anfield, as long as he does well for Villa. People just need to remember that these guys are more than capable of seperating their support for a team with there job!

Point of order: Wasn't Davies a £2m loan for his first season and then signed for £8m the following summer. £2m + £8m = £10m. Thank you 8)

Davies was 8mil and still has a career, he has had injuries that hampered him and we'll get 5mil for him easy if we sell him. Heskey cost us a few mil, yet you quote his wages. Downing has only had just over half a season, cut him some slack. He was excellent in the West Ham game. Shorey was a few mil loss. Sidwell would be a few mil too. So his worst signings are merely a few mil loss each. Nothing major. Compare to.. Friedel, Warnock, Dunne, Collins, Cuellar, Young, Milner, Ashley Young, Petrov & of course swapping Baros for Carew. All what you'd call success stories. It can't imagine ANY manager could have done a better job than Martin did in the transfer market with a net spend of around 60mil. Houllier certainly won't do much better. Or ever come close. Why are you turning this into some sort of pathetic MON is better than Houllier arguement? Your making yourself look a little silly by running down the new gaffer before he has even been unvailed!
