Some people on here really are f**king brain dead. The reason he has a 5 year contract is because it is what he demanded. He already has 3 years of big money at City, if he is to take a paycut like we would have demanded he then says he will agree to the cut if the contract is longer. Its called negotiation to a point where both parties are happy. Offering a 2 year deal is a complete waste of time. are you givens agent? did you sort out the contract negotiations? oh your not and.... no you didnt. so you are merely hypothesising like the rest of us. so sort yourself out fool. It's not rocket science to work out that what Tamuff said is pretty much bang on how things panned out. "Look Shay, we cant afford to pay you £75k p/w because it doesnt fit in with our wage structure...however we can give you 5 year contract in place of a 3 year contract?" So he's not a fool. so shay given is a liar then? because im pretty sure he has been quoted as saying it is all about the football and to be playing again? when you are a multi millionaire and have several properties around the uk and ireland and various investments, it is completely different to someone earning 40 k per year being offered a job for 35k per year. if people cant see that then there is no hope for them. There is no difference at all. Right i will say it again, Shay Given wanted say £75k p/w for 4 years, AVFC say we cant afford £75k p/w for 4 years so we will pay you £55k p/w for 5 years. So yes, Given has took a pay cut to come and play for AVFC.

.....what the ****? Cant really argue with that mate can you? The club was more stable under o'neill than I and MANY others can ever remember it being, with 3 consecutive finishes of 6th and really look like breaking the top 4 in 2 of them seasons. Yes I know some people think he spunked a load of cash, but all the blame cant land at his feet, there must have been somebody sanctioning the deals. And I cant really remember ANY villa fans moaning when we brought the likes of Sidwell, Beye, etc etc. At the time everyone seemed happy that we were building a squad that could push us on those extra couple of places. I can also remember people moaning how long the deals took to go through, and if I remember rightly this was also chalked down as MON fault also. Funny hey! And his point about us finishing in the top half at the moment is not far off in my opinion, where do you expect us to finish with how things stand at the moment? just cant see what point you were trying to make with that comment. Not sure what any of that has to do with Charles N'Zogbia?
