    Malta

yeah, I've read your first post properly now! end of March is quite a good time, not much rain and the Maltese are winding up for Easter which is quite big over there
  2. four is better I do regret getting rid of my 4 button dog tooth prince of wales check boating jacket that I usually wore with a purple n yellow polka dot shirt, fiurucci jeans (mentally expensive, then cut the labels off so only people that recognised the stitching knew what they were) and a pair of b/w bowling shoes (the red / white / blue bowling shoes would have looked ridiculous). These days I generally slop around in an oversized Spillers Records tee shirt and a pair of craghopper walking trousers.

    Drugs

we had a discussion about drinking here in the open plan office a couple of days ago I'd mentioned that if we open a bottle of wine on a Sunday we generally don't finish it and end up tipping the last of it away midweek. A few people expressed surprise that we wouldn't finish a bottle once it was opened. So in a loud flourish I announced: 'to be honest, by 2 on a Sunday I'm usually blasted off my tits on smack' one of the Directors was stood right behind me
  4. I have one of their godawful products, a 5c. It's utterly fantastic at being blue and at putting photos onto twitter. Actually using it as a business tool it's a step back from my clunky old Blackberry. As for the price of bits n bobs of cable or hands free kit etc., why on earth do people put up with it? I've always known people are suckers for shiny new gadgets perceived as fashionable, but the iphone 5c must be the ultimate piece of crap style over function invention ever. The battery is great too, really impressive, nearly lasted 48 hours once. Nice shade of blue though.
  5. ....Imagine my relief when she turned around and it was just Janette Krankie getting the nipple going....
  6. I actually drownded to death, dead in a vat of whisky it was horrible I had to get out three times to go for a piss
  7. Damn right, silly Americans Day before month people, day before month. year first helps with filing
  8. So then I said to her, 'well I'm not absolutely clear what pegging is, but yes I'm willing to give it a go'. At that point, I truly regretted having chosen the shop window display area of Debenhams for our first date.
  9. 'Big Gig' tomorrow, it's at Wembley this year, can't wait.
  10. yes I am near St Athan. I sometimes drive through there with my window down shouting obscenities about Douglas Bader.
  11. the scrambled logic of the Pimlico guy is scary, in that he appears to believe the nonsense he's saying at least Seb Fox knows he's spouting half truths and lies
  12. I like the 3 buttons, not very fashionable right now, but 3 buttons is the best look. But the buttons are squashed too centrally in the centre, they should be more equally spaced which would also then sort out some of the problem with the collars which are both wide and long. Sleeves are a little bit too wizardly looking for me, might just be the hang but they appear to flair at the cuffs. Don't tap D P Academy into google.
  13. interesting bit of context on the TV earlier I didn't see the beginning or the end of the programme but the middle bit was interesting, it was that ancestory programme and this week Billy Connolly was tracing his routes. His family had been soldiers in India at the time of the Lucknow mutiny about 160 years ago. They were exchanging stories about British soldiers, in Indoa putting down the mutiny by tying people to canons and blowing them apart, randomly shooting civilians, execution without trial. They also then went on to describe how 'suspects' were rounded up, made to lick up the human blood from the floor, if they were muslims they were forced to eat pork and then they were hanged. They gave a few similar examples, and also pointed out that his relative then converted a 13 year old local to christianity and married her. Now, it's a long time ago and they did things different back then. But perhaps it might put a slight slant on exactly how animalistic and beyond reason any current groups are. I'm not saying we need to love IS a little bit more. I'm just suggesting that with a little bit of context, perhaps the world isn't about to end next Thursday.
  14. Just cause the French bailed us out in 1778 doesn't mean that you lot had to bring a whole lot of French influence into the language. c'est la vie
  15. cheers makes sense now (I'm sure it made perfect sense to everyone else from the start)
  16. what does slotting mean? from the first use I guessed it was a good thing like 'putting in' technicals (with technicals meaning specialist military) from the second use I guessed it was slang for killing or disposing of sorry, just trying to follow an interesting thread (not being clever or sarcastic)
  17. He'll be the guy that was a timid little cuckold at home and looked like a beaten downtrodden loser. Imagine everyone's surprise when it turns out he was the local kinky escort serial killer. Just a theory
  18. I can only presume some people get their serotonin fix from feeling down. Otherwise, to potentially spend a large portion of your allotted 82 years being messed around and unhappy is something I can't get my head around.
  19. I tried to write essentially the same thing, but you've pretty much nailed it.
  20. It's a nice time of year right now in Barrybados, the crowds have gone but the sun is still out. It's like having a private beach. Plus this is the best time of year for swimming, the difference in air to water temperature is at its lowest, the weather is still benign and there is still an hour's daylight after work. My kids go training on the beach and in the sea whilst I get to sit on the seawall and watch and shout misinformed instructions.
  21. Where is that? Whitmore Bay, sit on the promenade wall with a coffee from Marco's and unwind after work. Walking distance from the house, I'm a very lucky boy.

    Malta

Well if you want pizza and chips and all day english breakfast there's a restaurant every other 20 metres that'll see you right - this time of year a good few will be beginning to close for the winter season, once October is out some areas can look a bit like a British seaside town, shutters down waiting for Spring. Food generally is either British or Italian. But best thing to do is ask a local where you are staying where they recommend, get yourself an authentic Maltese rabbit stew. I had a flat on Tower Road, Sliema for a while, a good evening is a stiff march around the coast path / promenade around to Spinola Bay where there's a whole stack of places to eat. If you want to impress the missus with your knowledge of backstreet restaurants, book a table in advance at Rubino in Valletta. Absolutely my fave restaurant anywhere. Small, quirky and just brilliant. If you like fish, get a taxi down to Marsaxlokk (Mar - sha - schlock) and try somewhere like Tartarun on a few others. Had a mental meal down there one time when we block booked the place and gave the chef / owner free reign to serve us whatever he liked with the remit being: pretend this is a cooking competition, try and win it! Needless to say I wasn't paying - the guy that was paying bought all the staff there from manager to dishwasher a brandy and a cigar at the end of the night.
