  1. The MoJ has a simple policy. Something is considered racist if it is perceived by somebody directly concerned as racist. The level of punishment or reprimand may well vary to prevent somebody being a serial nuisance accuser. But there is no debate over whether something is racist, if somebody says it is, it is.
  2. It's not as easy as some people make out. I was personally involved in a case, but despite my claims she said she'd never met me before, never mind shagged me.
  3. If I google that, it's going to be a reference to teenage boy television programming, isn't it?
  4. Wilko reporting he is now free of cancer and back to about 80% full fitness.
  5. that's my 'special' icing (er, the pic was off google images before anybody starts placing orders...)
  6. I made this cake, I'm gonna try and sell it and get Simon a ticket.
  7. Absolutely not. So what is the test? If it isn't a measurable metric like viewing figures or sales figures, is it down to individual's taste?
  8. I've seen 4 off that list. Breaking Bad was very good Dr Who is a children's / family programme so can't really be judged in the same way Curb Your Enthusiasm was very good The Office was very clever The others I haven't seen other than snippets, I will eventually have a proper look at Sopranos, but no rush. I suspect that the ultimate test is viewing figures, and something like Coronation Street or Eastenders would win that, I'd guess.
  9. I'd say Top of the Pops was very influential for a long time. A lot of teenagers would have been waiting and watching and hoping their faves got a slot on the programme. It would have influenced your mood and started off your night out. Similarly, a bit later on The Tube was very important and showed a very different attitude. But I don't think I've got a TV programme I'd describe as 'greatest'. Maybe The Tube, it certainly had quite an influence on me, seeing the reaction of my parents when somebody dressed up with an ET mask pulled a girl from the audience, rode her like a pony for a little while and then shot her. I'm not sure they worked out she was part of the show for several days. But the upshot was that the show was banned in our house. It was eventually unbanned, only for Frankie Goes to Hollywood and their first raw versions of Relax to be championed on there every week. Oh, and teatime swearing. Revolutionary stuff.
  10. wasn't sure whether to list it, bit of a sombre anniversary today, 21st October 1966 was Aberfan 116 children and 28 adults were killed

  12. So, has anybody actually had any disastrous shags lately that they need to tell us about?
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV_g5JP4S6o it doesn't really come over on the recording, but possibly the loudest gig I've ever been to every drumbeat and bass note was a punch in the chest it was midweek in the middle of the day and I was 'in a meeting' then back home on the train absolutely buzzing and not able to mention it to anyone the next day

  20. I've been given some these, will try one later, but I'm dubious about it. On the pint of stuff I drunk in Cobham the other week with a Deer on it: No it wasn't Wild Beer or Windsor and Eton, I'll keep looking. But yes, the shot was framed. I sat there, drank the top off the beer, shuddered, photographed it. Sat there for a while and then went upstairs to watch the end of Bake Off. I was in a bar drinking beer on expenses and decided it was so poor I'd go and watch the telly.
  21. Better than Welsh mustard! you've been had, that really wasn't mustard actually, I just looked it up and there are people claiming to make Welsh mustard, I suspect it's English mustard with red colouring whole grain dijon is the only mustard I'll eat or include as an ingredient, I absolutely load it into cauliflower cheese when I make that proper mature cheddar and whole grain dijon, luvverly
