  1. Yeah, I can see that. For me, it was the first one I bought (about a year after it had come out from memory) and I loved the rawness of it. The rest of my family were all listening to stuff that could be appreciated on a decent system, those Queen albums day at the races or whatever, Genesis, Tubular Bells, Rainbow ffs. Clever noodly shit about wizards and champagne. I rock up with an lp of two guitars a drum and a shouty man murdering a version of Midnight Hour in 2 minutes flat and get banished to play it in my room! Happy days.
  2. My least favourite album of theirs. Let's not permanently fall out over this, I'll just blank you for a few days and then at a time of MY choosing, we'll pretend it never happened. But it's their second best album, after In The City. It has a sweary f word on both sides! This was a big deal for me back in the day. The list for me, goes something like: In The City This Is The Modern World The Gift / All Mod Cons / Sound Affects / Setting Sons with probably Setting Sons as the least fave, least played
  3. Where else can you get a bilingual Clifton Steamer for sterling or euros ? You can even have a go on Nessa's slots.
  4. I was a vegetarian from about 1981 to 2000. Still eat a few vegetarian meals just because they are good tasty grub. Nothing more glorious on a cold day than big hot pot of spuds, tomatoes, chick peas, leeks, stock and paprika. There you go, I've said it.
  5. I don't think it would work on here, we have a disproportionately high number of good left thinking individual hipsters that are too cool for school. Plus, we'd spend the next 18 months arguing over the wording of the question and whether there was an apostrophe. Oh,and at least 2 people would only vote for the bombing if it was accompanied by Ride of the Valkyries and some moody slo mo.
  6. not sure you could wear both at the same time, could be a bit loud unless you brought it all down with plain shoes and a plain shirt

  8. up relatively early for a Sunday hot croissants n jam for breakfast drop stuff off at my parents, house is in top picture (keep 'em sweet, think of the will), 10 minutes down the beach just to get some colour in our cheeks then in to Cardiff down the bay, had a burgers and nacho's and chilli and fries and onion rings and coke for Sunday lunch which felt brilliantly sinful, sat in the most kitsch 'diner' with Elvis and Monroe memorabilia all over the walls and a rock n roll jukebox booming out back home via a walk along the prom to see Flat Holm and Steep Holm (not my photo that one, robbed off twitter) bloody freezing cold now but I think that counts as a maximised sunny January day four years ago I'd have spent my time and money driving up to watch the Villa, this has reduced down to reading the reactions thread and feeling sad if there's one thing the American owner should understand, it's entertainment value, right? now, coffee.....

Yep, just donated it to Irish Mike from across the path. He gets the frame if he's happy to tidy up the glass, done deal.
  11. that's pretty much it For me, I found a girl that was a bit different to all that, changed my social group and got away from it. I certainly haven't passed out drunk anytime in the last 25 years. For others, well, they now look a good 10 or 15 years older than I do. If that's any sort of measure.

  13. Moderation isn't often talked about, but yes, it really can work it doesn't have to be on / off.
  14. I bet his mum had to tie the bow on his new hoodie.
  15. there'll be twice as many in the summer, when it gets otter an' otter
  16. A good point well made. But how many of that 0.05% could or would actually do anything about it? Are they going to go to Mecca and blow themselves up in front of the Kaaba? Whereas there does seem to be an inexhaustible supply of jihadist nutters, sufficient to keep causing mayhem for years to come. Yes that is very true also. Some would argue we've sent quite a few of our young over there to fight, it's just that we are more organised and legitimate (I wouldn't be so crass, but it is an easy accusation). You could also argue that europe has set itself up as more of a service provider and the poorer countries are cheap labour. It'll be interesting to see the nationality of the known member of the Belgian criminal underworld that sold them automatic rifles and a rocket launcher for £3,900. He says he hadn't realised they would be used in a jihadist attack, he thought the Kouachi brothers were just good old crims. But yes, I agree with your point.
  17. No rush, ME holds the record leaving it about 6 months! But then sent some awesome stuff to be fair.
  18. it would be interesting to see how you could extrap the findings of a survey: should we just bomb the **** out of all the middle east and be done with it? get that question answered by a few hundred people on the streets of Paris, New York, London and Brussels and see what % of 'the west' want armageddon if it comes out as 0.05% that'll be quite a lot
  19. Which team will be the first to refuse to play because they haven't been paid? Which team will include three unknowns that turn out to be the son of their main sponsor and 'young talent' owned by an agent that's running their FA.
