  1. I see keeping the Capital one Cup regional did wonders for Gillingham. Away to Plymouth on a Tuesday night.
  2. There are few sights finer, than a small group of middle aged men, liberated by lager and a complimentary sparkling wine, throwing their paunches around showing the young uns how to really dance to 'one step beyond'. Then it's a 10 minute breather, a piss, one last cruise of the free buffet, one more slug of lager and up again, woooooowooah! black betty bamalam whooah black betty bamalam....
  3. It's all in the language used and the way the media choose to relay it. He mentioned yesterday he'd like to look at why the post / royal mail has to be private and possibly row back on that one. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. On the news, this comment is then cut to Yvette Cooper suggesting Corbyn wants to go back to recreating British Leyland. He never said that at all. I'd consider it a fairly sensible idea to have the basics in some form of state ownership or part ownership or joint responsibility. Right now, we are heading towards all steel plants in the UK being in foreign ownership. What happens when Mr Tata decides to turn off the furnaces as it's cheaper in India? They don't get turned back on. But then that might not matter anyway, because the arab states and Russia where we get our gas might decide to turn off the supply anyway. But not to worry, if it's a Tuesday it'll be our turn to sail the aircraft carrier and if it's a Thursday the americans might lend us some aircraft for our pilots to fly. I wouldn't consider myself particularly right wing. But I do happen to think 'defence' is important. For me, defence includes the ability to fire up a furnace, bash some steel and build a tank. It means being able to keep the lights on - without a Chinese nuclear facility at Hinckley. It means ensuring the UK can produce milk and is keeping the technology to keep water clean and affordable 'in house', not reliant on foreign companies being able to make a profit. That's defence. Defence is not drone attacks on Afghan weddings.
  4. so anyway, what do you drive? well, this evening, if it stops raining I'm going to have a go on one of these for an hour
  5. I did briefly work in the same building as my missus. We were already together when I got a job for the same company as her. Different work, different department, different floor. But yeah, there's nothing quite as exciting! Long time ago. I wonder who's got that desk now?
  6. all I need now is a car battery and a shopping trolley and I'll be fully portable
  7. probably been living off earworms, would be cruel to put it back in the wild after all this time
  8. fresh out of the cellophane, I shall listen to this whilst eating pie and chips a good day
  9. worst possible time to play Bournemouth, our new team versus their newly promoted lot, them at home in the sunshine and the media with all that happy copy already written with their witty headlines ready to roll sweet
  10. Delph has said he might play the first half, but he might not, so don't wait. Start without him, but he'll deffo turn up. Hopefully. Having a crazy day, see you later. Fingers crossed. Got to pop to the bank first.
  11. Villa win. Lots of re writing of beach boys, rags to riches fairytale stories around about 4:50pm
  12. Here's hoping the Australian's can man up, make a game of it and rally on through to the third afternoon in the final test. Venues must be losing a fortune.
  13. official used Mercedes site that specific car there you go, fill in lots of different search criteria and see what pops up - they'll knock £750 off the deposit between now and the end of August on any used C Class
  14. the Chuck Berry one put me in mind of one of my fave's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig4jQrofnBI
  15. yep, that's pretty much it But the football season is nearly upon us and there are 10 consecutive away games for my local team to get through, which will mean plenty of random country road driving trying to find villages with 15 houses, a shop and a football pitch. All to be enjoyed like a ground hoppers mystery tour come treasure hunt before the weather is too grim, then all home games through the sleet and the ice. Then back to away games next Spring! Ain't no reception for your sat nav to help you find Cambrian's ground.
  16. I really must give this a listen, a good few people are raving about it. I've seen her live a few times and she was **** awful. Awful to the point I wondered if it was a comedy act a la John Shuttleworth.
  17. Yep, as I go around the M25 every Wednesday and Thursday clocking up an average speed somewhere around 20mph it amazes me how many people have bought cars capable of 150mph with stiff suspension, upgraded brakes in primary colours and rumbling noisy engines. I guess it's for the bit between their junction turn off and their car park. The old Bracknell 200 metre scream.
  18. yeah, driving whilst hung over can be a real pain ----- I wonder how many people that think driving is a chore have chosen to drive manual gearbox cars?
  19. Apparently it was a van, so I'm fairly certain she'll get done! In that case no escape. Although I do know people that remove your points for a fee....dodgy business though. if it was a van, there's a fair chance the guy was eating his sandwiches or having a quick scan of some porn on his phone
  20. Just as an idea, if it doesn't have to be 'new', have you considered a 15 plate used car? A quick look on the Mercedes used car section suggests they've got dozens of C250 AMG Sports versions, loaded with kit, 15 plate all with 6,000 miles on the clock and all at around £26,000 / £27,000 if you bought them without any haggling. They'll still do PCP deals on them and still have low interest. You save about £6,000 for having a car that's 6 months old. the one above is 220 CDI AMG Sport edition, diesel, auto, tiptronic and every extra known to man - 5,000 miles - £24,450 on the windscreen.
  21. I think they've got new tech on the M25 cameras recently. You still have the chance that they may or may not be switched on for any particular day, but they now also adapt to reduced speed limits. So where previously they were set to trigger at 80mph, they are now set to trigger at 10mph above whatever the matrix signs are saying. I think that's true. If it isn't, I'd like to take the credit for starting the myth.
  22. Pride Cymru in Cardiff next weekend. £8 for Snap!, Katrina (without the Waves), Hazell Dean and others not quite so mega.
  23. I have to give a shout out for British Gas at this point. They replaced our meter with a new one. The new one was zeroed. Next time they did a meter reading it was much much lower than previously recorded. So they credited my account with about £1,200. We waited a year before we spent it.
  24. I've been for a nice walk along the coast.
