  1. current tory aid to PM who was also a signficant tory during Thatcher era states that other people's businesses failing and people losing their jobs or job security is an excellent opportunity for those with capital to make a profit nothing to see here
  2. turning into a busy weekend got up early this morning to get on the web and get a few tickets for a family trip to the Proms in the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 14th July took an hour and a bit of queuing and bagged the tickets 5 minutes before it was a total sell out

  10. I'm having trouble distinguishing the US from Botswana... Yeah, I'm crap at this. Tend to get it wrong by whole continents. wander up and down the road, open another tab, google the restaurants .............oops! wondered if I was the only one .... didn't Google the restaurants mind , just looked for a town name and dropped a pin as close to it as I could guess only problem was a Japanese one where I had to go miles before I found signage in english and not some bloody silly made up chopstick stuff (that's ok to say that isn't it? that's ok? PC and all that?)

  13. bought Bullit dvd from Sainsbury today, they had some with £5 stickers and some with £3 stickers on......so I had a long hard think and picked up one with a £3 sticker on it

    if I was capable of noshing my own bollocks I wouldn't be spending evenings on an internet forum, that's for sure
  21. yes, it's a long term investment, but then we've got no intention of moving we were very lucky to get the house we wanted just before the last stupid spastic rise in house prices, a couple of long term projects are a new roof and getting that big flat garden supplying my heating but both those jobs have to be after a couple of holidays and getting some savings behind us I tell myself that by the time I get around to it many of the bugs will have been ironed out by the early adopters!
  22. well, yes in many many cases, but not as a blanket no exceptions absolute rule I know nothing of catholicism, so can't go into specifics on how they organise themselves, but there are self sufficient self financing churches that do their own thing, don't have shiny silverware, haven't invested in some big leaders hat, cape and pension fund etc etc I feel myself being dragged into the old arguements of another thread so as fascinating as the whole subject is to me, and as much as I'd genuienly like a proper debate, I'm going to try and resist as we all know where we all stand.
