  1. it's worse than that, I'm following it on VT - I think we're losing 7:2 and my mum's being shagged by Le Tiss whilst Lambert pisses in my tea and we're boring
  2. aye, well played veh nice bit of the world, but I have to confess the sea there is usually brown, must have been a trick o' the light (the two islands visible through the pier are Flat Holm and Steep Holm)
  3. close (ish), too far west
  4. so where was Chris today?
  5. 'Tommy' Apparently he didn't write the Uncle character, he wanted it in there, but found it too difficult to write. The mental picture of Mr Moon singing fiddle about fiddle about...
  6. Nothing quite shows just how much you care as stretching to reach the top of the stack of Thorntons boxes piled high at the end of the supermarket aisle.
  7. fertility test I'm heffing sure that admin bloke has put in some code that says if I don't quote, then use it as a page break
  8. BBC Radio 4: 'TV in China has quite literally taken off' not as good as my fave where some bloke called Graham Taylor announced 'I literally held my breath for the whole match'
  9. we went to an LR dealership about 4 years ago as my wife was actively considering getting a freelander or possibly a defender (but knew in her heart of hearts the defender she wanted would be too basic) It was an experience from a day gone by, they wouldn't speak to the missus as they presumed I would be the buyer. It's the only dealership anywhere ever I've encountered that. Surely most try and sell it to the little lady, even if they sell it on the nice colour. But no, he insisted on only talking to me right up to the point she announced she'd decided she no longer wanted one. I'm not saying that was typical, I'm saying it was utterly bizarre. The only other dealership that came close for bizarre behaviour was a Jaguar dealership that basically refused to serve me. They phoned 3 months later to ask if I was still interested!!! I pointed out the German car dealership across the road had beaten them by about 12 weeks. Anyway, good to see LR on the up.
  10. 'The Beatles and their impact on my dad'
  11. Paignton is big enough for many of the shy larger animals to wander off where they can't be seen if they are having a bad hair day. That salves my concscience a little. They also have a superb restaurant, sell bags of lion shit and kids can crawl down a pipe and pop up in the middle of the meerkat enclosure.
  12. 500 years since the publication of 'The Prince' an aide to Tony Blair just said that when Blair was giving his speeches, if there was a piece of the speech he didn't want broadcast widely he would look down at his speech and read it out. He knew this was legitimate, to read one's speech, but also knew the tv media would never use a clip of him looking down talking to his paperwork. (perfectly legitimate to include in the tory govt thread)
  13. About 3 minutes walk from Paddington. There's actually what I think might be the only canal roundabout behind me where I took that shot. I noticed the barge rides up to the Zoo included zoo entry and appeared to be cheaper than just turning up at the zoo! We might do that next time, but from memory London Zoo is a bit poor when compared with the likes of Paignton.
  14. edit! No, not Amsterdam........Yes, Little Venice. Had breakfast on a very nice little boat, I think they thought I wanted to buy the boat when the bill came.
  15. Anybody care to guess where this is?
  16. I'm not obsessed with graveyards, honest. But I am intrigued by the mid 1700's where they do appear to glory in the death with skulls and skeletons a plenty. Phillimon here looks like he had an interesting life. (edit: Church of the Holy Trinity, Queensborough)
  17. I went on a bad taxidermy site, then I had second thoughts. My kids were really really upset when the guinea pig died. It's all good though, part of life and character building and all that.
  18. I've got two mates that'll be happy with this news, both confirmed Saab nuts, do the owners' club meets and that sort of thing. One is an accountant and one is an architect, I think that's just about bang on profile for Saab ownership. They'd both decided they'd just keep running their old Saabs rather than venture into the world of modern cars (they have 5 between the 2 of them).
  19. As somebody with an impeccably neutral accent, I can say that I often hear the 'go' / 'yo' version of you when in the Midlands.
  20. radio 4 did a nice little piece on him earlier, his association with Black Arc and the cross over with punk and all that
  21. Have you ever considered stuffing her?
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nz_uSssKTw RIP Junior Murvin, aged 67
  23. I've got the last two episodes to go on the last season. It's really rather grand.
