I always win at Monopoly so my family won't play any board games with me. I have the Have I Got News For You board game sitting on my shelf unplayed. we play a bastardised version of monopoly with a strict time limit (and shouting for time wasting) youngest has to be banker to improve basic 'rithmetic by stealth trivial pursuits still gets a spin but for some reason adults just can't win that one clockwork racing santa's proving a big hit this year (from some awesome Waitrose crackers)

staying in with the whole gang music giant communal chip shop fish n chips kids vs adults board game olympics corny and twee, but we all love it, and the nippers will be off getting drunk and snogging and trying to buy puff soon enough so we enjoy it whilst we can

  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xPKLRVQ0Gk Trampolene, lots of early Oasis style energy, even manage to sneek in the lyric 'shaker maker' but very listenable Saw them very very briefly passing their stage at the Swn gig. Had I stayed another 10 minutes I'd have seen the singer faint and drop mid song.
  5. Queen Elizabeth II seeing as Thatcher is dead
  6. the use by date on my Waitrose Coarse Ardenne Pate was the 28th AND it got left out all day Christmas day should still be ok for some snacks later yeah?
  7. is now a good time to buy reduced price Christmas cards, or is that potentially a waste of money in that I've got to avoid death for the next 50 or so weeks in order to get any real financial benefit
  8. would a bomb in Belfast have stopped you going to the London Olympic site? if terrorist action 700km's from the site is going to stop your attendance you can expect a lot more bombs Yeah but Russia scares me enough as it is. Nice to see our overlord liked it though aye I'd agree Russia is scary Without looking like an apologist or friend of the Russian regime, it's what surprised me most with the Greenpeace folks. They took aggressive action against Russia and then came over all shocked and upset at being put behind bars for it. Surely anybody thinking of doing anything vaguely anti establishment on Russian soil or in Russian waters can't really be expecting a light telling off and a free cab to the airport?
  9. hmm doubly cheesed off with one of the prezzies I got one of my nippers Wanted an extended arm cymbal stand, bought it off amazon and mistakenly didn't get it out of the box for a pre Christmas look. Now it's up it doesn't have the extending arm, it's a stubby. It does the job 'ok' but I'm cheesed off the 1. I didn't check it first and 2. that I've now found what I wanted to buy, cheaper and better quality in a local music shop. The hassle of an amazon return means we'll probably end up with both in about an hour's time when I've been brooding on it for long enough.
  10. yeah no specific plans this year, nothing booked but Belgium and Netherlands looks possible for a long weekend we'll get a cottage somewhere vaguely Northumbria / Cumbria at some point I'm going to try and organise a trip to FC St Pauli in Hamburg for a little group of us, but knowing what its like organising this bunch it might turn into a 2015 idea no big plans, but we've probs done London and Cornwall enough for a short while and need to think of somewhere different (different as in Edinburgh, not Turkmenistan or Burkino Faso).

  12. I'm not the referee, and I wouldn't want to be a moderator (I have a father for a start). But I don't think any of these names tacked onto the end of the 2013 list are legitimate until they get put into a stand alone 2014 list.
  13. I'm no expert, but I'm struggling to see what Putin would gain from the bombing and killing 30 + of his own people just before the Olympics. I know Putin and his style of govt isn't liked in the West, but organising suicide bombings and car bombings, that might be stretching a point. With bombing on this scale, I'd say there's a good chance the first sign of anything happening in close proximity to the Olympics would result in a large part of the show packing up and going home.
  14. Yeah... I had a really funny gif to post but it didn't work. ms paint
  15. become 15 years old, it'll make perfect sense and you can go on fan sites and see every frame analysed and cross referenced once you are up to speed you can write fan fiction where you get characers from different programmes to shag each other never read your kids' notebooks!
  16. if that happens again, it's triangle triangle, left left, circle circle.

  20. just for the record, I did check the web to make sure he hadn't smashed his skull in and gone all blue nose
  21. no problem whatsoever with the science it's the ruthless pursuit of profit by pushing half thought out science that will kill us off if it's climate change your worried about, I'm not sure making basic food stuffs the property of one company is the answer, the answer might be less animal products and less disposable consumer shite
  22. but we already produce 30% more food than the entire 7 billion population of the earth needs why do we need patented corporate owned crops that don't self seed but rely on buyng from one business? is it so we have something longer lasting and more uniform in appearance that we can scrape into the bin?
