  1. Sunday evening blues :-( Yeah my kids have just started half term and I've tried to persuade them to nail their homework now, so next weekend we can do something big so they don't hang around on Sunday feeling down - but right now that idea doesn't appeal to them. I'll remind them next weekend that I'm off out for fun whilst they're doing a week's homework 24 hrs before they go back to school. A life lesson they may never learn!

  3. it just occurred to me whilst I was writing, I had to go back and erase JEF - you still buzzing from the hols? or getting Sunday evening bloos?
  4. You just know an hour after registration on Monday morning there'll be grainy footage on the news of a lanky teaching assistant in a bad hat pushing two 'friends' onto a National Express.
  5. Haven't seen Rob since this happened. I think he banged his head on the coffee table when he passed out.
  6. take your pick really, but I guess I meant 'the west' as in USA and it's representative in europe
  7. So what happens if / when all this turmoil eventually leads to a fresh general election - and it (possibly) transpires that all those east Ukraine votes keep the current pro Russian stance? I guess the West accepts that's democracy at work?
  8. well hats off for some self deprecating Russian humour there (one of the rings of human dancers didn't open)
  9. think I'll skip the actual footy thread for the rest of the day.....
  10. you are Randy Lerner and I claim my £5
  11. @fcstpauli Gonther muss kurz behandelt werden, kann aber weitermachen enjoy!
  12. I'm currently 'following' the German language live twitter feed of the Dresden vs Sankt Pauli game. it's 1:1
  13. Just popped into the match thread and it was mundane and predictable, so yes, perfect fit. There is no way we'll be exciting and win.
  14. We have people staying over half term this coming week, can't decide if the chairs in the living room are tatty enough to warrant new seat covers. We'll discuss it a bit more, later.
  15. I've done it on older cars and it is one of the more straightforward jobs, just needing a few sizes of spanner. But I'd have to confess I've never tried any work on a modern car, they're usually so jam packed that to get to one thing you're removing three others. Plus everything now has cables and management systems connected. If it looks like there's space to get in there and work without needing three hands and the front of the car off, then it would be a truly cool string to your bow.
  16. I wasn't really talking about reliability, just my experience of driving hire cars, none of which have ever broken down. My heart sinks every time I get an Insignia which appears to have been designed for people with no desire to see what's going on to the side of them or behind them. Also, for what is essentially a rep mobile, the Insignia is almost always fitted with figure hugging hard 'sports' seats. It's a personal preference, but I'm not a shape that suits the bolstered sport seat on a long journey. But cars are soooo subjective. If you base you're car buying on statistical analysis you might accidentally end up in a Hyundai.
  17. Well, that was fun. About 40 of us in a little town hall listening to one of the best little bands around at the moment. Note town hall lighting set up, lighting options included on and off. Not bad when you've got Cian Ciaran as your support band too.
  18. Mondeos are very decent cars, certainly head and shoulders above the Vauxhall tosh that sees itself as a rival. Mondeo and Fiesta kind of set the bar in their segments.
  19. enjoyed that a lot more than I expected, the kids did a piece that they've written themselves over the last few weeks and it was more British Sea Power than Brahms, so good on 'em. Brahms was fine too.
  20. A very late announcement (as in this lunchtime!), tomorrow night, Earth headline and Cian Ciaran support at a tiny little town hall gig They are going to take cash on the door, but I got me a couple of tickets just to be sure! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWPMS5QUETM
