  1. great I've just sent out 10 incomplete CV's
  2. yeah it's hard enough being a ref and being constantly criticised then some little shit accuses you of being a thieving banker
  3. I'm sure I've probably mentioned this before, but many years ago I organised a boys trip out and one of the stop offs was San Sebastian. When we got there they were less than friendly. They basically insisted we all get back on our bus and go somewhere else down the coast. People were coming out of their houses to say turn around and go away. A café owner refused to let us in. The car park guy would only let us through the barrier to have space to turn around and leave again. Well, after a decent bit of arguing we turned the bus around and left with a pretty poor impression of the place. Later that same day a visiting Spanish General was blown up in the same area of town. So I guess, they were actually doing us a fairly almighty favour.
  4. There's a hotel down Torquay called The Grand - and once upon a time it probably was, out the rear it has a spiral art deco car park so was clearly a big deal back in the day. But in all honesty, it has a sort of faded grandeur, the rooms are large with sea views, it has a bar and a restaurant and you can do the walk along the prom. But at the end of the day it is a big old, slightly creaky, affordable, friendly place. We've stayed there a few times. It's not new, the edges aren't crisp, but it's really clean friendly. I can see how you could make that a really romantic old school British weekend - It's easy distance from there to Paignton Zoo and / or Dartmoor. Could be fun. I'll keep my ideas on Yemen to myself then!
  5. To the uninformed casual observer it might even look like it was Moyes the solid hero that was holding Everton back all along.....
  6. something fishy about the whole thing a sort of ping pong
  7. if those Pings are off e-Bay they'll be cheap knock offs deffo
  8. how shit at rowing must all the other universities be if these two always make the final
  9. to be fair, he probably realises he's not the man to make moral judgements on scam artists
  10. sampling competition later first up though, chippy fish n chips and a bottle of £4.50 Sainsbury Chardonnay I've had laid down on straw in the cellar for some time awaiting the exact right time to decide to sell or drink.....
  11. Well, the Telegraph accusation of political bullying and intimidation from the condem govt isn't going away just yet, they've released a transcript of the conversation where some political aide phones in and suggests pursuing this story whilst there are still Leverson things to be resolved, is, well, I'll just leave that there with you..... For me, the tape is hardly a smoking gun, but it does underline the dilemma of who to believe in a spat between journalists and politicians. Sadly, it's probably neither, as neither is capable of being straight, they always have to give an angle, a partial view of the world, an indirect answer to a question that wasn't actually asked. Which leads me on to last night's Any Questions on Radio 4, Peter Hain proved particularly incapable of answering a single direct question all night or accepting a single statistic or accepting a quote of his from a previous programme. He came over as a snake oil salesman caught on camera on Watchdog. Just awful. You'd have to wonder if any Labour aides listened in on that and thought, yay, that won us a few votes.
  12. I had the same about 20 years ago ... Some idiot cut across the white jagged lines as they joined the A3 and knocked a cyclist into the outside lane where he got run over by about 6 vehicles All of which I watched in my rear view mirror For a good while afterwards whenever I used that mirror all I saw was a limp body flying through the air and bouncing on the Tarmac I was the closest witness and had to go to the hearing ... Dead bloke was a loner with no family and so for whatever reason they let the driver off and put it down to accidental death ... I was quite sickened about it at the time Thankfully, they just spoke to me on the phone. The official report as released to the press a month or so later said single bike and car accident, struck by a single car - that was most definitely not what I saw and not what I reported, but they decided that was the official line as a fuller more accurate description just wasn't in anyone's interest, which I understand. On a lighter note....years ago I thought it would be fun to put the kids in the car and take them to a charity car wash at the fire station....traumatised by the power of the water! Cost me £5 for the foam and hose and then another twenty buying chips and drinks and toys to calm the little buggers down (my kids, not the fire crew). Ten years later I still threaten them with a return visit when they're taking the mick out of me.
  13. A few months ago I saw a biker hit off his bike and run over by a few cars, it's still with me, so how on earth somebody deals with death and injury and tragedy on a regular basis I just can't imagine. But we're all very lucky that somebody does. I've also got a good mate who's a first responder paramedic, he spends most evenings keeping pensioners calm and / or alive until the ambulance arrives, again, hero.

  16. a good few years ago they tried to get a team building day for my little office I suppose it worked really well, in that to a man we refused to have anything to do with it and it was cancelled
  17. that'll be 'drunkenhellhole' the 's' is silent
  18. ok, cool I think I last watched ITV in about 1993, so it might be they've been on there every day with their little flags for all I know!
  19. saw a variation on this earlier today, a guy with his mobile in one hand (using it 'apprentice style'*) whilst holding his sat nav in the other - utterly stupid and selfish * this alone, even if he was a pedestrian should allow people to side swipe him when a hands free kit is a tenner, why do people with a £15k car, £300 insurance and enough money for a smart phone not invest a tenner in a hands free ear piece if they must talk whilst driving?
  20. and given that they also have MP's, the various regional nationalist parties and NI parties etc should possibly be given a TV debate if a party with no MP's is being so massively promoted? there are already 28 seats in the commons held by parties (not independents) that are not the 'big 3' and not UKIP where is there constant national advertising, where is there debate with Slick Clegg? it's not as though Europe registers as a priority issue with voters
  21. in all fairness '91 is from the States, if he says no, it's no, last thing they need is self confessed drug users turning up over there
  22. couldn't you just go around him? ( I loves a stereotype, me )
  23. I'm sure she will be allowed in through the CIA private plane route, via Colombia and she's quite chunky so she'll have no problem shoving a good few condom wraps of her special baking powder up her various servants quarters
