  1. I think maybe the old man (now dead) may indeed have had some deep problems. Maybe possibly not insane, but not in full mental health. His death might be the start of the others getting their shit together.
  2. you're 22, away from home and you've known her 5 minutes, do what makes you happy, not what others want you could tell her you're more than happy to be friends because that's allowing you to still sleep with other women you don't like as much as her - her reaction will probably dictate the rest of the evening
  3. just wrapped up the last episode of Fargo very good, quite graphic and violent in parts, but quality piece of tv second thing I've enjoyed with Bob Odenkirk in it, though two very different roles scriptwriting, acting and cinematography (?) on some tv projects really is high at the moment
  4. just to show the rock n roll credentials of allotments I got my allotment when the last custodian was kicked off site for growing weed the husband and wife 4 allotments down from ours have been caught at it in their shed Most exciting thing that's happened to me is that Brian next door sounded me out for playing bowls, I was hoping it was code, but it was just bowls. I draw the line at bowls.
  5. I think I've seen 4 'secret' pre tour gigs. Then everything from the mega Royal Festival Hall show down to the tiny Brecon Indoor Market gig that wasn't part of Brecon Jazz. Seen them in most Cardiff venues so probably about 10 or a dozen times in total I'd guess. ....actually...if you add in the various spin offs, I've seen Gruff a further 3 times, Gulp once, Earth 3 times (not bad as I think they've only done 3 gigs) Next up would be a guy called Martyn Joseph, probs seen him 6 or 8 times. Alabama 3, also about 6 times. The one I haven't seen and really really need to would be Sam Carter / False Lights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3726plLDgvM&feature=youtu.be
  6. as far as I'm concerned it's not a real party until I've got my bongos out
  7. The World Cup and my run of luck with watching it, for instance, missed the 0:0 first half of yesterday's Germany game, caught the 2:2 second half missed the 0:0 majority of the Belgium Russia game, saw the winner dug up my first top notch bag of this year's spuds, got home, watched Algeria vs S Korea lovely weekend
  8. Some idiot in my old office tried to get me to sign a petition against Koreans eating dogs. I refused, pointing out the double standards of somebody like her that happily ate chickens, pigs, cows etc., complaining about others eating dogs. She was apparently 'particularly distressed' that I of all people, a vegetarian ffs, wouldn't sign her petition.
  9. yeah, easy all day long (but I've only just seen it!) on a quick mental check, probably still the band I've seen live the most times

  11. it was the 28 years bit I found surprising, as TRS says, fruit flies
  12. What does that say? Is that Lithuanian? It's about as Lithuanian as that Wickes home brand paintbrush cleaner you've been drinking.
  13. Sunday morning walk, nice n quiet before the Brummies turn up in their fleets of Aziz coaches. Don't get me wrong, the place went through 20 years of them not coming and the economy suffered something fierce because of it. But it's always lovely and peaceful just before and after visitors.
  14. I tend to flip between the three of them, depending on which one is currently talking. I see Liddle as a sort of dangerous Jeremy Clarkson in that at least with Clarkson people know a per centage of his act is just juvenile clowning, whereas with Liddle he's quietly reassuring you that your fears and hates are real and justified. Fabricant, I fear, is a truly odd person of the sort I wouldn't want to be alone with or leave in charge of something I truly valued. What sort of public figure even thinks it's ok in the most slippery of wordings to plant the seed of an idea of throat punching somebody. Brown believes there is one rule for her and a different rule for me, because I'm white male middle aged and therefore responsible for all that is wrong. But, I've read her column enough times to know that it can be thought provoking, if not a little preachy. It does appear that for some reason to get heard in the UK you have to have some pretty basic character flaws. If you haven't, then you'll be derided as small, boring and grey and you'll be shouted down by the air time given to those who can entertain in soundbites and get people phoning in.

  21. yep, that and harmonic generator are 'go to' tracks for getting pumped up Interpol I never managed to get into, Thrills and Polyphonic Spree I liked a lot but recently re spun my Spree album and didn't really enjoy it. Saw a short set by Keys yesterday and whilst I don't think I've ever been so hot n sweaty they really showed what a drum and guitar band can do. Three of them on stage and it sounded like a full audio assault. But perhaps the best for this, the closest I get to like a bit of oldschool 'rock' is the rockier end of Primal Scream. I've seen them a couple of times and wow, when they are on song thet are a propeor wall of noise. Saw them about 2 years back in a tiny gig, about 90 of us where they were recording for radio and just wanted a bit of atmosphere I think. They were the loudest thing I've heard. Proper turned up to 11. But it's all good. Little family and friends BBQ tonight and it was all folksy guitar and Joan Baez. I think I might be a music listening tart.
